Pelle Larsson
This dude deserves his own appreciation thread. PL's a stoic player so it's easy to forget just how important he's been to the team. Especially coming off a broken foot and a very slow start at the beginning of the season. He's very consistent and gets better with every game. With his jump shot and athleticism, I suspect he'll be the break out star on next year's team.

Re: Pelle Larsson
He grinds and gets knocked on his ass at least once a game.
Re: Pelle Larsson
Reminds me so much of Jud Buechler. Very solid player who I think will make it to the league

Re: Pelle Larsson
When he transferred I was thinking he was a Kerr Kriisa as a freshman, someone who just hangs out at the three point line and bangs 3s.
But this kid is super quick and athletic. Superb defender. Don't even think of him as a 3 point shooter.
And doesn't miss dunks or free throws.
He's getting quicker as the season goes on, unlike Tubelis who lost a step and some spring.

Re: Pelle Larsson
You must have missed his missed dunk last game but that’s not the point.
He moves his feet better than AT on defense but he’s always been a good defender. In fact he’s one of our best defenders.
What has impressed me is how big and strong he is and how quickly he’s become such a key piece to the puzzle.
As I stated before I no longer worry which of our 8 rotation players are in the game at any given time.

Count me in the group that thinks he's way under valued. I also really like his ceiling in the college game. I'm expecting a Solomon Hill type of impact as an upper classman if he stays.

He was guarding Mobley and has been capable of guarding other 4s, so he can guard 1-4.
He's incredible, his shot is starting to fall more consistently as well. Very good 3 and D player

Can’t wait to see what future Wildcat we compare to the all-time great Pelle.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Re: Pelle Larsson
Going to take a victory lap off my preseason prediction that he'd make the all conference team - the injury slowed him down to start but he worked his way into 6MOY and that's amazing. Still believe he could be a first round pick after next season.

Re: Pelle Larsson
Dude went from a superb 3 point shooter to average, but there is no one more out there I want at crunch time than Larsson. Just so cold as ice.
Pelle had to make the most difficult shot of the game, and made it look easy. Also one guy you don't have to swap out on defense.
And just a superb athlete.
If he gets his 3 point shot back he will easily be all PAC-12 next season. Assuming there is room with Tubelis, Koloko and Ballo on it.

Re: Pelle Larsson
Pelle in a position where he is ASKED to be the number one scoring option is the Pelle that we all need to see. Didn't have it at Utah, didn't have it coming off the injury and playing behind Benn and Dalen last season, of course isn't in that spot as the youngest player on his national team... but he should have it this year.
We need Tommy to tell him "go get buckets." Dude can deliver.

Re: Pelle Larsson
Highlights he looked very confident. Fast break dunk, transition 3 and a steal. Team and fans were loving his energy

What the heck? Guarding a NBA all star? Man against boy?
That has to either explode your confidence, or destroy it. My guess is the former.

Re: Pelle Larsson
Whew! When this thread was bumped I thought he was gone.
No harm in getting professional feedback. He certainly has NBA skills if he can maintain his confidence and regain his 3 point shot.

Same here. You would think Arizona would almost recruit itself, but now you have to put in work and cough up the bucks.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 6:58 pm Don't think it's rats leaving the ship, but guys definitely aren't lining up to play for AZ right now. Never thought I'd see this.

Re: Pelle Larsson
Anyone else see Larsson as the big weak link in today's loss Vs FAU?
1) Could NOT guard Johnell Davis in the 2nd half, which jumpstarted Davis' 27 point 2nd half/2OT performance, 2) poor passing into the paint, missing a well positioned Ballo on several inside passes, 3) getting lost on FAU's pick and rolls, 4) poor shooting in the second half.
Would've rather had Bradley or Lewis subbing in more for Larsson.

There were a lot of weak links.

That splint on his finger really impacts his shooting and passing, especially passing off the dribble

I saw Boswell as the biggest weak link. Pelle actually had a fairly good game, IMO.

Re: Pelle Larsson
I would like for him to come off the bench like previous seasons where i think he really excells in a 6th man role. He just to inconsistent as a senior and right now his defense is really hurting. That's my pov from the very little i saw of this game while getting tested at Walgreens.CatsbyAZ wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 4:00 pm Anyone else see Larsson as the big weak link in today's loss Vs FAU?

He had a tough game against a good and very hard to guard team. Let’s not go too crazy over 1 game.
Not worried about Pelle over the course of the season.

Our defense was definitely NOT the problem, it was our shitty shooting. 38% doesn't win you many games. Some poor shots taken and some very easy shots missed. Should never have even gone into OT.

You can’t let the other team shoot 50% either. The Russian only had 7-8 points.BBQ wildcat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 1:19 pm Our defense was definitely NOT the problem, it was our shitty shooting. 38% doesn't win you many games. Re: Pelle Larsson
The other team shooting 50% is no issue at all, if we had shot just 40%. Their one player was just in an unconscious zone, making buckets on bad shots, just throwing the ball up. That happens. We just flat out missed way too many really easy shots. And took some really questionable shots.
