I will say zero chance this one sucks. It's director and writer helped write and directed Ozymandias of Breaking Bad, the single greatest TV episode ever.

I didn't love Force Awakens as many did, but it was good. I liked Rogue One more, and thought it recreating Vader was the best thing Star Wars has done since Empire.

Force awakens was pretty darn good, but not great. Rogue one was A+

Last Jedi looks like it will be really good.

The 3 prequels that came before these last couple of movies were truly atrocious. but saying that isn't an unpopular opinion, thus why they weren't included when I said the last 2 star wars movies have pretty much sucked.

I've actually devised a pretty diabolical system for extra credit that involves almost twice the work for 20% of the points, typically with only a few days of turnaround. It's an anti-incentive for slacking. Most students who donit once never miss a standard assignment again.

And, yes, attendance is stupid. Since when do we babysit adults? I don't put power points or lecture notes on line, the punishment is not knowing what small assignments are, not understanding the content, and missing daily pointed activities. If you choose to miss, good luck catching up. Outside of an excused absense, I won't share content over email or the following class. If you opted not to buy the book, and you miss my class, your screwed.

With the importance of student retention and student success, the use of analytics is playing an increasingly important role for institutions to identify students who are at risk in order to 1)optimize advisor's time 2) to intervene in time to turn things around. Attendance is a pretty good indicator of a student's success but there are many others. It is also a pretty good story to tell parents who want to keep track of their offspring and be sure their money is being spent well. UA has done some research in this area although they have decided to go with proprietary tools versus open source tools.

Most bacon is too salty. I prefer a quality breakfast sausage.

You seem like someone who would appreciate good entertainment though. Why haven't you? Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and now Better Call Saul are all probably in my top 5 of tv shows currently.

Also...game of thrones and almost any fantasy/sci fi/comic book genre movie or tv show is hot garbage and I definitely think my life is richer for opting out of those things.

There's a different sensibility there. Maybe it's the no stupid long commercial breaks every five minutes.

But yes, can't get into GOT either. Just seems like too much of a set-up. Characters are too distant.

Coen Bros have some of the best, most original films of the last 30 years.

Very versatile. Straight suspense drama to straight comedy, to subversive satirical critiques masquerading as drama or comedy or dramedy.

Very few "bad" films, and a film like The Hudsucker Proxy is incredibly unerrrated and underappreciated. Very few even know what it is. And the film is hysterical and features a half dozen incredible characters filled by some of the best actors at their best.

I certainly understand not always appreciating their quirks, but to say they are bad and forgettable... that's batshit crazy.

I have no desire to read GoT. I've read LotR many times, as early as 11, and read it again prior to films coming out.

Leading to, The Hobbit trilogy is as bad a prequel trilogy as Episodes 1-3 of Star Wars. Unwatchable.

The last two Hobbits were an absolute slog to the finish. I fell asleep halfway through the last one.

I thought there was more than enough facetious misdirection in posting Carrie Fischer's pic to set the stage for some specious attacks on obvious truths. There is no end to porcine glories. The Coen brothers are divine. Time and rate of return are all that matter. Sheesh.
