TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Grammy-winning singer and Tucson native Linda Ronstadt is opening up on her decision to move out of the Old Pueblo several years ago in an interview with The Arizona Republic. Ronstadt cites a "car culture" in Tucson, saying, "To take (my son) to school, it would take about 25-30 minutes. ... It was like living in Los Angeles."

She also expresses disappointment the Mexican border fence and with her children encountering "exotic attitudes." She says, "There was a lot of homophobic stuff that they would hear at school, which I found very, very offensive as we have lots of gay friends."

I agree with her, and I think she's a real human being. But just because she gave up on Tucson doesn't make everything she says true. That Aztál stuff reveals the kind of dream world she's living in, and probably has something to do with the romanticizing of the old days. San Francisco is one of the greatest cites in the world, but you have to have to be very, very well off to move there. She's living the dream, and dreaming the life. Good for her.
