I remember that. That's historical. In Tropic of Cancer (or Tropic of Capricorn, I can't remember which), the narrator refers to this one time back in New York when he ordered "a hamburger sandwich with lots of onions."

It went from hamburger sandwich... to hamburger sandwich with cheese... to hamburger and cheeseburger, whereby the latter somehow freed "burger" to stand on its own as an entire category separate from sandwiches. Hence the title of this thread. I say, I'm a burgher, too. Aren't you? I feel a musical coming on....

Lindy's just featured on Man vs. Food, along with El Guero Canelo (blonde cinnamon?) and Mi Nidito. That Lindy sure is a large fellow. About the size of five guys.

I've seen that one a couple of times. It is indeed somewhat troubling to watch that big fella cook that massive burger - makes your chest tight and your left arm hurt.

This thread had me so tempted to go to Culvers but I held off the temptation and ate a salad. I'm in my own shame spiral BearDown89.

Flagstaff just recently got a Smashburger. It's ok.

I think mine are still Whataburger, In-N-Out, and Freddie's.

Yesterday had a double double protein style with grilled onions at In-N-Out when out shopping with my son. Not sure if it's the best but I like it for fast food.

Shake Shack is finally opening a store in Arizona
East Coast burger giant Shake Shack is expanding this side of the Mississippi River.

The New York City-born chain plans to open its first store in Arizona at Scottsdale Fashion Square in 2016. It'll take over the front half of the former Modern Steak restaurant, including the outdoor patio.

There are two other locations in the West: at the New York-New York Hotel in Las Vegas and in Austin.

Most of those aren't some "secret menu". They're just the result of unhealthy people ordering two or three things and then smashing them together before inserting the monstrosity into their disgusting gob.

They're not THAT good, though. In that bracket Checkers (aka Rally's out here) would topple them in the second round.

Steak 'n Shake and Bob's Big Boy would also make my Final Four against In-N-Out and Five Guys.

Similar here. Haven't been to Whataburger since the early 80s after hitting up the Bum Steer and Wildcat House. None around where I have lived since.

I do like Habit and In'N-Out since I can get grilled onions.

Yea. The only people who love Whataburger are those from Texas, and then only because they had generations of people telling them how great Whataburger is. I think it sucks compared to the alternatives and I live here where it is all over the friggin place. It's the equivalent of McD.

I would put Whataburg in the second tier of fast food with Carls Jr. Better than McD, BK and Jack, but not as good as Five Guys or In n Out.

I've eaten at Five Guys numerous times. I've yet to be impressed.

My Final 4: In-N-Out, Culvers, Bob's Big Boy, Rally's.

Though I'd take a Freddie's over the last two. Not sure it counts since not actual hamburger, but rather shaved steak. Steamies is good, too.

Never had most of the East Coast, but Friendly's sucked.

Only been to Five Guys once since there are none around here, was not impressed wither. Much rather get the double double protein style with grilled onions at In'N'Out.

Whataburger is pretty good, definitely not the best though. Their A1 burger and the green chile are pretty damn good, but only a once in a while type thing for me. Five Guys is hit and miss. Sometimes it is outstanding, other days its ehh. In N Out was the greatest ever til it came to Arizona. The novelty wore off, but when it was an only when you are in California thing I would have probably had it number 1.

Final four in no order: Culver's, Fuddruckers, Big Boy, and Red Robin (why the hell isnt it in that bracket?). Red Robin is the best overall for me. I was eating there twice a week for months during my wife's first pregnancy, was very thankful for that particular pregnancy craving.

Totally agree. Never understood the In n Out hype. Yay secret menu! Totally overrated. All of it - burgers, fries, shakes marginal at best.

Totally agree. Never understood the In n Out hype. Yay secret menu! Totally overrated. All of it - burgers, fries, shakes marginal at best.
Not to mention that if you go there with no prior knowledge of how to order, you end up getting a giant inedible raw onion on your burger that will ruin your social life for the rest of the week.

If this was a "Best Fast Food Burger in New Mexico" I'd be inclined to agree with your disqualification.

In the other 49 states the presence (or lack thereof) of green chilies is not a deal-breaker for most people.
