Yeah that's crazy. We paid 244k in 2020 for our house at 3.5% and our payment is $1390

$50k for a new car no longer feels outrageous…

BUT THE 7.8% INTEREST RATE SURE AS FUCK DOES!

Anyway, spent my morning at a dealership and my afternoon sucking in new car fumes. All in all not too bad a day.

Toyota Venza Hybrid for the wife.

Of course I’m now stuck with the behemoth mommy mobile minivan pretending to be an SUV (Honda Pilot). Someone shoot me in the fleshy area where my balls used to reside.

Femcat will love the Venza. Your suffering is ........ a sacrificial standard, as you know. But take heart! those cool 20 somethings you work with wouldn't think any more of you if you rolled up in the Venza.

Same here. When my kids grew up and moved out, I wanted to get another one. My wife said no. She wanted a crossover, so we bought a Nissan Murano.

My oldest son had a minivan for a while too, and would have kept it but it died.

No. I still have a house in Phoenix and my job is based out of Phoenix. I'm not even getting Nevada license plates or a Nevada drivers license.

I think I’m in for a Rivian in a few years if I were to get a truck but I truly don’t need a truck. I don’t haul a goddamn thing outside maybe some bagged mulch. Instead I think I want something sporty. Maybe a BMW or Audi.

The hybrid version gets over 40 MPG. It's basically a car with a small truck bed. We like to tent camp and it's just enough for that.

I was looking for a new Maverick about 18 months ago. None were close, and the ones little further out had huge markups on them of $4-$5K and I would to drive several hours to even test drive it. But I'm not paying more than retail, and have superb credit.

That's what you get when GM kills Holden and Ford abandons Australia. Australia invented the Ute and know how to design them. The El Camino and the Ranchero were copies of the Aussie Ute. They were perfect for tradies to buzz around narrow suburban streets. Chevy doesn't know how to build a Ute. That thing is both useless and ugly.

Now our roads are overwhelmed by Ford monster trucks and some City Councils are up in arms threatening to ban them. My street is going to go parking on one side only so cars can actually navigate the street without having to sit outside peoples houses blowing the horn for somebody to come out and move their car, or watching a house burn down because the firetruck can't get through.

Holden and Ford stopped building in Oz in 2017. There was going to be a Holden Ute rebadged as a Pontiac in 2009. But Pontiac died before that happened.

Some pictures here - ya gotta scroll down a bit. Holden Ute in US with weird history / Pontiac Ute pictures
Those 2008 era bodies are STILL hugely better looking that that thing pictured above.

I think it looks cool. A cracker's Santa Cruz. It has no conceivable broad practicality with that ridiculous bed, but the 1st gen Honda Ridgeline was similarly configured and we bought one for Mrs. Dove's forays into the woods before I retired. That Ridgeline was a fucking tank, had excellent clearance, and was way more powerful than it had a right to be.

I'm in the market for a TV for the living room. With the move and all (new house, furniture, etc.) I don't want to spend a lot of money so I'm looking at one of those TCL units from Walmart (75" or 85"). Anybody here have any experience with one of these? And if so, how long have you had it?

Wine country! Although it's Tucson hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Hotspot (literally) of the Central Coast.

But if you want some land, that's the place. Just a short drive to cold Morro Bay too come summer.

She's a Cali girl. But mostly it's a kneejerk reaction to a fight she nearly got into with a MAGA bitch here. Recency bias left over from a several day trip to Paso several weeks ago combined with the post-election cope most of us are struggling with has her fantasizing about the move.

It'd probably be as outrageous an expense as moving to Australia, not that that really matters, but she's the thriftier of the two of us, so I figure it'll pass. I hate everything right now so she's kinda pissing me off. But everything is pissing me off lately so I need to get over myself first.
