They rank based on pro potential, right? So not today, or even in college, but their pro potential.

Just based on college results, not pro potential.

About the "fails" at least Josiah gave us about 15 or so serviceable games. Played like an average 3 star.Machina wrote:2009

Bejarano could not play Miller style "D" but became a starter/6th man on a tourney team in CSU.
Sidki flat out gave the finger to everyone and I think is the only ultra fail.

Not sure how you can consider Stanley Johnson slightly less than a 5* in play so far this season
28.5 mpg, 14.4 ppg, 1.8 apg, 1.6 spg, 2.5 tpg, 48% fg, 70% ft, 40% 3p
He could get better at a few things, but stats don't lie.
If he saves a kid's life next game will that put him into 5* range? Something more?

But the princess of passive-aggressive board posting will never admit it... But rather respond with the "What do you think my motivation is? I just thought it was interesting topic to discuss and was curious as to other people's impressions."Chicat wrote:It's not that undercover. I think she perceives herself to be subtle...self awareness is obviously an issue, too.
I wonder how she would rate the performance of Scroggins, Brewer, and Randall... 3 four star FB recruits...

Re: Star Recruiting Rankings v Production at U of A Under Mi
That's completely ridiculous. Halfway through his first season he is named one of 25 finalists for the most prestigious individual award in college basketball. As a frame of reference, there are 25 5-star rated recruits in every class.Airizona wrote:Not sure how you can consider Stanley Johnson slightly less than a 5* in play so far this season

But he's underperforming. That's rich...
Re: Star Recruiting Rankings v Production at U of A Under Mi
Nothing to hide. The development of some players has been a bit disapointing.
As for Scroggins he would get a slightly below and Brewer and Randall would be incompleteso like KA this year in basketball
But yes Stanley was judged too harshly. For a 5 star he is doing well

Except the damning evidence that proves Sean Miller one time blamed the fans for a loss.Machina wrote:Nothing to hide.

Re: Star Recruiting Rankings v Production at U of A Under Mi
Rhetorical Question: What is a more relevant measure of a coach's effectiveness. The level of achievement his teams accomplish during his tenure, or his teams' level of performance relative to the rankings of the recruits he signs?
If Arizona wins the PAC-12 this year, he will have won 3 conference championships in 6 years. that's a run rate that nor even Lute could boast, and contrary to what some would like to remember, this program was a complete and total dumpster fire when he arrived.
But some would prefer to levy allegations of underperformance during his time here. That is their prerogative, but it's revisionist at best, and more likely an agenda-driven motive that breeds out of some sort of perverse resentment,

I know you said it was rhetorical but I think it is a combo of both with accomplishment being more weighted.Harvey Specter wrote:Rhetorical Question: What is a more relevant measure of a coach's effectiveness. Re: Star Recruiting Rankings v Production at U of A Under Mi
A lot of teams have players play above and below their rankings. And I think coaches (not just Miller) should be given more credit for players going above their rankings. You have to remember that these kids are going away to college. There is a lot of adjusting to do. It's not just about basketball. It's about maturing as a human being, succeeding in classes, learning to balance a schedule and priorities. Is it Miller's fault if Josiah Turner ends up being a d-bag and fails out of school? Maybe it's possible to see some signs there, but I think it's hard for a coach to predict the off the court behaviors of these kids who are learning to become men.
Also, Id much rather have a "3 star" Kevin Parrom than a "5 star" Grant Jerrett.
Perhaps the people at Rivals doing these rankings need to re-evaluate their process.
