Another Parker Jackson-Cartwright??? Hard pass. What is this fascination with midget point guards that Miller has??

It’s been awhile since AZ was in a group of schools of that caliber.

No top recruit is going to seriously consider Arizona without knowing who the coach will be.

Keep seeing that we're reaching out to transfers on the market. I know at the moment someone's gotta go, we get one of these transfers two gotta go. I saw you all were say Baker might be gone who might be the other to leave to make room?

According to who we are show interestin ... ... a 6'6" to 6'7" good shooting small forward or shooting guard.

Only two fall into that category:

- Terry
- Matherin

Hmmmmm...

Bramah is a post player who I think has only taken 1 three in his college career.

The other guys do seem more to match the physical profile of Mathurin and Terry, but I'd also keep in mind we are low on PF types right now. Tubelis is pretty well it, so I can understand we might want a larger wing that might also be able to be a smallball 4.

It would also not shock me if Goerner is gone. I'm not sure he's anywhere close to the rotation any time soon.

That's who I was thinking Tibet Gorener definitely could be someone who leaves. Kid can develop into something and help us down the road but I think we gotta go all in for next year and he won't be ready to make a contribution

He looked really lost this year and needs to develop physically. If we returned Tubelis, Mathurin and Terry, he wouldn't move off the bench next year, IMO. Maybe something as a junior, but that's as soon as I could see him contributing.

Just a lot of unknowns at this point. I sort of think that there aren't many transfer PF's, so a big wing is the next best thing.

Agreed. Don't forget Batcho will play next year too. He's another true center. J Brown is really like a 4 or small ball 5. You could roll out Tubelis and Brown at the 4 and Koloko and Batcho at the 5. But it's be nice to grab one more post player for sure

Does a lineup that immobile work in todays college game? Who is going to stop Jamie Jacquez from scoring another 100 points on us? I would be very afraid of Jordan Brown covering todays "4's".

I feel like we have enough posts, I'd really like someone in the 6'6-6'8 range who can play outside but still rebound. To give us some versatility.

Bramah is in that mold for sure.

Teams literally drove it right at us all season and at certain spots our defensive deficiencies really showed through.

I like four wings/guards with one big. Tubelis is not a rim protector and Koloko is a minus offensively. Brown has not shown the ability to stay with anyone off the bounce.

These guys are going to have to make a big leap forward next year on that end of the floor if we want to have the kind of year we are hopeful for. I would love an Aaron Gordon type of 3/4. Uber athletic that can guard off the bounce and could be a rim protector

Funniest thing is brown was known most for his defense for a lot of high school... It was pretty rough this year

If you could take the best of Brown's game and the best of Koloko's -- then you have a really good college player. Both have holes in their games, which is why they need to be used strategically depending on the opponent. Some games, Brown barely played any significant minutes. Others (USC) he came up huge. Same for Koloko. That's a real challenge for the coaching staff. Better perimeter defense by Akinjo, Mathurin, etc... would also ease the pressure on our bigs. A week defensive guard causes headaches for our big. If everyone takes a step forward this offseason -- you'll see significant defensive improvement for the team.

This point came up a lot this year. Miller mentioned perimeter defenders giving up straight line drives a lot, and I agree with him. We had a lot of instances where a perimeter defender got beat in a straight shot to the rim.

Packline, zone, there's no defensive scheme that works well if your perimeter guys are getting beat off the bounce straight to the rim. If you can't control penetration, the other team can negate a rim protector like Koloko just by drawing him out of the lane. Usually, that helps bc it cuts down driving lanes, but when you get beat in a straight line, you're just screwed.

Becoming better at closing out and keeping your man in front of you on D would be my goals 1 and 2 this offseason for D. Those are two areas that are just musts for effective defense.

Maybe Daniel Batcho knows fellow Frenchman Josh Mballa from Buffalo and can say hey, that type of guy would complete our team next year.

grades and personality i’m assuming? anything else? it does seem like his team likes him from the clips i’ve seen and they’ve been very good this year.

Yeah, this is what worries me about Robbins making next year do or die for Miller. It forces us to take chances on red flags and paves the way for more roster turnover.

Edit: looking more into him, it seems like the other schools offering him would be a red flag.

Looks like he has range and ball handling skills to go along with his size, from the tape I saw and his measurables he seems like he should be rated higher than he is with his biggest drawback being his need to add weight. Also played football for Frank Caliendo which is pretty awesome.

Looks like UA and Zaga were his top 2 with Lloyd being the lead recruiter at Zaga. So when Lloyd went to UA, stars lined up nicely.

Dunno if he's underrated. He has good athleticism and mobility for his size, but not elite, IMO. He's not an elite Holmgren type in shooting and handles, but he's good in both areas.

That's not necessarily bad, though. Players who need to develop physically and round their games out stay longer. That's how I see Anderson, that he lacks the elite aspects to be an automatic OAD, but has a lot of potential to develop.

He's ranked similarly to where guys like Zeke and Lauri were, and I could see that same sort of career path where he's probably a multiyear guy until/unless he blows up as a freshman.

If he can stay around 2-3 years I'm all in with that type of recruit as long as the potential is there which it looks like there is.

It's a happy coincidence. He was down to Zaga with Lloyd as his lead recruiter and Arizona with Murphy as his lead recruiter.

So I'd imagine Lloyd's closing pitch was pretty straightforward. You like me, you like the U of A, it's your home state...

And that's fine and I get it.

But as I tell people who work for me, it's about the end results. Doesn't matter if it was an easy slam dunk or it took long hours to get it done. Nobody really cares how the sausage is made, just that it gets delivered and tastes good. ;)

I get it. One of my personal opinions is that not screwing up the easy stuff is an underrated value in success.

There aren't extra points for degree of difficulty. A lot of life is converting the simple stuff expeditiously so you can focus energy on the difficult things.
