Wife is out of town on business so I'm Mr. Mom this week. Tonight I made a cheesy sausage pasta dish:
Sautéed onions and smoked sausage in a large pan, then added minced garlic. Added in a couple of cups of chicken broth, a half cup of heavy cream, a half a box of Campanelle pasta, and a 10oz can of tomatoes and boiled then simmered for 15 minutes until the pasta was cooked. Stirred in a cup of Monterey Jack cheese and then broiled for a few minutes until the mixture was bubbling.
The kids loved it. I didn't. It tasted like hot dogs and mac&cheese. Which is probably why they loved it so much.

Had a Fig and Prosciutto pizza that was decent.
Wife had a hierloom tomato and watermelon salad (add Tiger shrimp) That was absolutely flavorless for $30.00. I had a better salad at the venitian food court. Complained, and they could care less. We wont go back.
Daniel Bould's DB Brasserie (Reydituto's Rec.)
Tarte Flambee(artisan flatbread, bacon, onion,fromage blanc)
Burrata Salad (artisanal Mozzarella, tomato marmalade, artichoke, arrugula, balsamic)

TUESDAY-
Bouchon Bistro (Thomas Keller)

Tonight will be giant (4inch) shrimp from the Sea of Cortez sauteed in garlic butter. Also thin cut ribeyes topped with grilled onions and mushrooms. Surf and turf baby.

That's pretty much what got me going on it. Not a neighbor, but a local small grocery store cooks tri-tip and chicken over oak and sells them for lunch. Had to run in the store for a minute, and it smelled so good I had to go home and make it myself.

1.3-inch thick, bone-in Ribeye...
Seasoned with fresh cracked salt/peppercorn, steak seasoning.
Glaze:
1 tbs worchestshire sauce
2 tbs water
3 tbs olive oil
3 tbs melted butter
Fresh garlic, basil, thyme, rosemary
Season, swipe with glaze, sear over open flame to seal in juices. Take off grill, add hickory or mesquite smoking chips, kill flames, then enclose smoke, flipping two times per side after 3 minutes, each time swiping upside with glaze.
You get a crusty, flavorful medium-rare ribeye that's ridiculously juicy.
Added grilled corn/cob and a skewer of zucchini and summer squash.
