best burrito -- Tucson EDITION

Post by 97cats »

Tucson loves burritos, from A to Z

When it comes to burritos, there’s no shortage of Tucson favorites judging from the enthusiastic response to our latest Madness callout.

The 32 nominees that made our bracket by popular demand literally range from A (Anita Street Market) to Z (Zivaz Mexican Bistro), with plenty of variety in between. Many are family owned and operated. Some have locations throughout the area, and others are food trucks with devoted followings.

What kind of burrito? Just within a stones throw of my old work, the Cabeza at Juanito's was just as good as the Red Chile at Saint Marys, which was just as good as the Chorizo at Anita Street Market. They are all friggin' amazing.

Gueros hot dogs are overrated, but their Carne Asada burros are crack. I'm guessing they are gonna win because its a trendy place anyhow.

I always get carne seca when in Tucson. My favorite place is El Molinito. So much cheaper than El Charro.

Looks good, but not authentic.

1. Birria (Barbecued pork w/ 3 fresh tortillas) $8.75

NO!!!

Birria is goat stew using chiles, Not barbecued pork.

32. Carne Asada (top sirloin)

Not sirloin, flank, skirt and flap steaks.
