Taiwan plane crash; 47 dead, 11 injured

A TransAsia Airways twin-engine turboprop plane has reportedly crashed into a residential building in Taiwan. Yeh Kuang-shih, the Taiwanese Transportation Minister, has confirmed 47 people were killed and 11 injured.

The "TransAsia Airways passenger plane crashed on one of Taiwan's Penghu Islands on Wednesday," reports CNN. The crash happened outside Magong Airport at about 7 p.m.

"Some media reports said the plane was making a crash landing prompted by strong winds from Typhoon Matmo, which hit Taiwan early Wednesday," further reports CNN. "There were 54 passengers and four crew aboard the flight, said Jean Shen, the director-general of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, at a press conference."

The cause of the crash remains unconfirmed at this time.

well weather radar showed that at the time of the crash the area it was in was experiencing pretty high winds and an absolute downpour of rain...so i'm thinking that was a factor. the 2 pilots were very experienced with well over 40,000 flight hours combined. was just some really bad weather. and it was in this plane:
