WSR predicts the OOC schedule. Spoiler Alert - they expect us to win them all.
Re: 2015 Season Thread
WSR predicts ucla, Stanford, and OSU. Beat the bruins and the rest of the season will take care of itself.

I've followed Shane Dale for a while and he is the biggest ASu homer/UA grad combo I've ever followed. He's probably jaded by all the Phoenix media types.

Assume he has to be careful between the two fan bases in order to sell more of his books. Think that's primary reason he to caters to both bases or stir up trouble to promote the rivalry/book.FightWildcatsFight wrote:I've followed Shane Dale for a while and he is the biggest ASu homer/UA grad combo I've ever followed. Rich Rod, baby — that's all a team needs.

I like it.
Re: 2015 Season Thread
Ryan McGee, espn, talks with analysts around the country to try and pick the biggest surprise of the season.
With the Pac-12 still ringing in my head, I buzzed Kevin Carter down in Tampa, Florida. He was either throwing out the first pitch at a Rays game or polishing his Super Bowl ring ... or actually both at once. Turns out he had his eyes on the West Coast, too. Actually, on the desert.
"Anu Solomon will explode in his sophomore campaign."
Really? The same Anu Solomon who beat out a senior to become Arizona's starter? The same freshman who threw 14 touchdown passes during a 5-0 start and ended up tying the Wildcats' record for TD passes in a season (28, shared with Nick Foles and Willie Tuitama)? The same Anu who nearly broke the school record for passing yards in a season with 3,793?
OK, once I said all that aloud, I realized it was a pretty heady call by KC. But he wasn't done.
"His performance wins Arizona the Pac-12 and a berth in the College Football Playoff."
Re: 2015 Season Thread
The Sports guys make their season predictions along with a Steve Rivera story on Freddy Tagaloa.
They ask if their is a buzz about the season around Tucson. I use the Costco test to judge local enthusiasm. Pretty simple test - I look at how many people are wearing Arizona gear when I'm buying my red kool aid in bulk. This past weekend below average Wildcat wearage at the Costco. Not sure what it will take to get the town excited. Maybe wins of ucla and Stanford.

If that happens we're missing the Rose Bowl again.
But we'd most likely have an outright PAC championship finally.

Theoretically we could end the season with 2/3 losses, still win the PAC12 but not get selected in the top 4, and make it to the Rose Bowl, right?UAEebs86 wrote:If that happens we're missing the Rose Bowl again.

Yes. Also we could lose the championship game and if the winner is in the top 4 we would go to Pasadena.FightWildcatsFight wrote:Theoretically we could end the season with 2/3 losses, still win the PAC12 but not get selected in the top 4, and make it to the Rose Bowl, right?UAEebs86 wrote:If that happens we're missing the Rose Bowl again.

Re: 2015 Season Thread
Do we need to fall within a certain ranking bracket or is there regional preference for NY6 bowls? I know we need to be top 12 but if we had to be a specific rank, like #9 or something, then that'd make it a lot more difficult.azgreg wrote:Only if we are ranked high enough.UAEebs86 wrote:Yes. Re: 2015 Season Thread
The top two teams will receive preference, both for region and also for matchup. So if Arizona was the last team in they could possibly end up in the Sugar Bowl.FightWildcatsFight wrote:Do we need to fall within a certain ranking bracket or is there regional preference for NY6 bowls? We can't get into the Rose Bowl this year without a playoff bid. It's a playoff game. Next year and at least for the three years after it will be a NY6 and not a playoff, so Arizona could go with a second place finish in the Pac if the Pac champ goes to the playoff. Not this year, though.

The semi-final games are at the Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl this year.azpenguin wrote:The top two teams will receive preference, both for region and also for matchup. So if Arizona was the last team in they could possibly end up in the Sugar Bowl.

Re: 2015 Season Thread
Meaningless, but still very cool stat this week:
Dawkins and Randall lead the nation this season in yards per carry among players with multiple carries
1. Brandon Dawkins, QB ARIZ Att: 2 TD: 1 Yards: 74 Yds/A: 37
2. Jerrard Randall, QB ARIZ Att: 6 TD: 3 Yards: 209 Yds/A: 34.8
They are both averaging two runs per TD!

I didn't know Tomey was the Associate AD At S Florida. It's also nice to see Ricky Hunley out there coaching. He's the D line coach at Memphis who's playing S Florida tonight.

So ya, if Anu doesn't get healthy we might have only 3 wins. Heck, even if he does the defense wont improve much.

Just reading about that now, Steve Rivera:
Last week it was UCLA that scored 55 points, Saturday night 55. It's the worst back-to-back performances in the Rich Rodriguez era. Not since the John Mackovic era - shocker there, right? - has Arizona given up as many points in consecutive games. UA gave up 111 points to Washington State and Oregon at this time of year in 2001. - See more at: https://arizona.rivals.com/content.asp? ... B1HKB.dpuf" target="_blank
