Re: 2015 Season Thread
Another year closer to the grave, another year without a Rose Bowl.
This sucks.
This sucks.
Re: 2015 Season Thread
We haven't lost the season yet. We can still win 3 to 4 in order to salvage what we have left. Do anyone not notice were consecutive weeks without a bye. So yea are team is bang up and he already started to injuries like crazy were going to have suck it up and play.
Re: 2015 Season Thread
8-4 is still possible but not likely. Just depends if and when we get anyone back from injury and if they are fully recovered. At this point I just want a winning season and a win over Asu. I'd definitely take 8-5
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: 2015 Season Thread
An 8-4 season isn't going to happen unless they somehow play a clean game on defense, And the games we have to win are Oregon State, Washington and WSU, Colorado and Utah. Those are the game we have to win. Defense need to wake the hell up. If we don't win any of those five games, then this is a major setback from last year success. 5-7, 6-6, if possible 7-5 or 8-4.ASUHATER! wrote:8-4 is still possible but not likely. This team isn't playing well enough to win any of our remaining games.
Still looking for these guys to play up to their potential.

Having them ready to play by Washington could save an eight-win season.
Re: 2015 Season Thread
AG with his normal stellar work. This time he covers Arizona's "Pork Chop" Jamardre Cobb.
If coaches hadn't moved Cobb from linebacker to fullback late in fall camp, we'd still be wondering what the heck happened to him. Even with all the injuries at linebacker, the redshirt freshman wasn't sniffing playing time until the staff suggested that a move to offense would be a quick path to playing time.
"A bruiser," Magee said, asked what he thought he had in Cobb.
"We talk all the time about the best place for people. Sometimes, if a guy ain't doing it on one side of the ball, we look around and see if he can help in another area, and that's what happened.
"It's nice to see him have success, because he's been working so hard on it. I was fired up because you always want to see the physical play. It's exciting everybody on offense to see that."

Re: 2015 Season Thread
Through seven games it should be painfully clear that this team has personnel issues. On defense we're held together by duct tape and crazy glue.
On offense....
The trouble is, our QB position has two players that are at specific skills and not so good at others. They both have strengths and weaknesses. There has got to be a way to get both Randall and Solomon on the field at the same time. Solomon isn't a running threat and at this point is probably gun shy about taking more hits. Randall throwing the ball is scary because good DB's will bait him all day. Or he'll airmail his throws off an unsuspecting cheerleader's head.

Randall actually had a couple of good throws last night which was a pleasant surprise.

Banda was really a nice surprise. I saw some early tweets and they were not very encouraging that Banda was out there.

3-3 although none of his throws were difficult. Just enough to keep them honest. Interesting that JR throws with gloves on

Re: 2015 Season Thread
Obviously it will be an issue for people with plans. I am more upset because FS1 has been terrible. Terrible announcers who keep pumping up Arizona and hoping they lose. Rather be on the pac 12 network personally.

Not the case. If our strategy is to recruit OKG's, then the coaches better actually recruit OKG's.azgreg wrote:
Re: 2015 Season Thread
I gotta say one thing. Our kids might be over matched right now at a number of positions, but they don't have an oz. of quit in them. Coaching has a part in that.
Re: 2015 Season Thread
I'm wondering if the lack of a bye didn't show up a bit today. This was week eight without a break and the defense seemed a step slower, a little harder of a time to wrap guys up. They played at altitude last week. When you're going against a team like WSU that makes you run ragged every play, being fresh matters.

Re: 2015 Season Thread
We certainly won't be favored in any of the remaining games. Frankly, all I want is a win against the scum. We should definitely NOT bring Turituri or Scooby back unless they are at 100%. If there is any question about our injured players they should be held out until the final game against satan. Six wins, beat the scum, and getting invited to the Toilet Bowl are our primary goals for the rest of the year.Hawkeye wrote:I hope I'm wrong but I don't see us winning another game this season.
After the season is over I hope Byrne takes a hard look at the program and enforces necessary changes. The reality is that in season 4 RRods program is going in the opposite direction of other recent bottom 1/3rd teams in the PAC 12. WSU, Colorado, Utah are getting better and we are not.....that is REALITY. We need a coach that values defense as much as offense. I still don't want to lose RRod but its high time we lose his defensive staff (and special teams coach). I still can't believe we dumped Salavea for what we currently have. Salavea has out-recruited, out-evaluated, out coached, out developed and out-motivated his opposite number at AZ. We need 4 new defensive coaches who's primary skill is recruiting. After last weekend I looked up Jace Whittakers HS 40 yd dash time:
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/footb ... -whittaker" target="_blank
4.77 seconds????? If this is an example of an OKG recruit then I hope we never sign another OKG again. I can guarantee that AZ will NEVER get to the the Rose Bowl with CB's who run 4.8 forties......NEVER.
PS to RRod..........get Bundage the HELL OUT of the center spot. How about converting him into an H-Back and putting him in the backfield instead of the undersized Kern....at least he can block.

Hopefully this was like BJ against USC when he learned to pass for Jr. 6-6 will get a bowl since there might be a few 5-7 teams this year. Sucks to be the goal though.

Re: 2015 Season Thread
This, to me, is it in a nutshell.Harvey Specter wrote: If our strategy is to recruit OKG's, then the coaches better actually recruit OKG's.
I don't want to overreact, because to me this season has been a perfect storm of circumstances:
- 1) We have a defensive system that uses the LB's (and the spur/bandit) to get pressure on the QB rather than from the DL
2)Our LB corps has been absolutely decimated by injuries
3) We have no bye week to recover from injuries or make significant adjustments to cover for injuries
4) We have apparently mis-evaluated 2 or 3 of our highly touted LB recruits
5) We do not have the experience (or, arguably, talent) in the secondary to mask the deficiencies of the pass rush
Scheer tweeted out (and posted on TOS) a breakdown of all of the "misses" we've had w/ 4-stars and above, both with RR and Stoops. The number of 4- and 5- stars we have had that have actually lived up to or exceeded their billing in the past 10 years is very small (Gronk, Golden from the Stoops era, from the RR era...TBD).
We can't afford to stockpile guys just because they have a bunch of stars next to their name like USC & UCLA do - because if that 4-star turns out to be a bust, there's not another one behind him like there is at USC & UCLA.
We may be seeing the answer to a fundamental question about Arizona football - can we grow into a perennial contender for championships, or is our ceiling as a program to be the scrappy spoiler that once every 5-10 years has the right combo of talent & luck to do something special (a la the Tomey years, or last year).
Personally I'm OK with the latter.....as long as that occasional special year gets us a conference championship, rather than the near-misses we've had in the past.
And, if that's who you're going to be as a program.....then you're better off looking for guys that will pick up the schemes and who love to play football and not worrying about the 4 and 5 stars.
If, on the other hand, you think you can build a perennial contender here....something drastic needs to be done about our ability to recruit high-end talent that will actually contribute.
