Howland @ MSU

Is doing extremely well on the recruiting trail... Very impressive.

Amazing considering the undesirability of Starkville and the limited success that program has had.

Dude can sell the final fours and the amount of people he's gotten to the pros. IIRC he had a lot of problems with the Cali AAU programs which led to his demise.

Howland was never a good fit at UCLA. He won there despite that program having no identity and weakening appeal. Would it surprise anyone to see Howland do better than Alford over the next two seasons?

Nope. He's arguably doing better on the recruiting trail in his first year in Starkville than Alford is in Westwood.

Think about that for a minute.

UCLA is a tough sell. They can't lure an elite coach, and they tend to lose the best local talent to other programs. It's remarkable that Howland did as well as he did there.
