Do we even care about UCLA? They are not relevant in the Pac-12.

15-16 for that team is hilarious. Got to win two tournament games to even finish 500

Alford and Iham took 35 shots.

Pathetic.....but I love Alford being their HC (and the AD who hired them!)....God forbid they actually hire a good one to lead all the talent that naturally falls in their lap

Ali is gone. Holiday might be transferring too. Dan wants another year for Alford
Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Official attendance was 7940..............I'll wager that half of that sat home. Pauley looked like a morgue on a slow day

On the upside, at least Alford is a decent guy who isn't into nepotism or apologizing for rapists.MrBug708 wrote:Ali is gone. Holiday might be transferring too. Dan wants another year for Alford

It's what happens with a bureaucratic AD with 100% job security. Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Maybe it's time UCLA fans just call it what it is. You're not a player in the modern game. All this crap about their AD and blah blah blah. And in the end, they're where they normally are: way back in the standings and completely irrelevant regionally and nationally. Keep chasing us, just like everyone else.
Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
BC, dude, shut up. Last I checked there are a few teams NOT chasing us this year. Save your crap for a year where we're actually winning the conference, okay?

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
He's just trolling you guys. It's his thing. He likes to talk about how irrelevant ucla is to get you guys to defend it. It's a pretty brilliant plan. Occasionally he talk about how good programs experience Final Fours and UCLA is still stuck wishing for John Wooden. Or how good programs like Kentucky don't fire coaches as often as UCLA. It's what it is.Puerco wrote:BC, dude, shut up. Last I checked there are a few teams NOT chasing us this year. Save your crap for a year where we're actually winning the conference, okay?

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
in an unbalanced schedule too. Would have been nice to return the favor to Utah at home and get another crack at Oregon. Fine line between 1 and 4 this year. Not a fine line between 1 and 10, or 12-6 and 6-12, or one win better than a 5-13 dogshit ASU team, depending on how you want to look at it.
Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
TJ Leaf went off last night against a 7 ft junior center, Brandon Mc Coy, for 36 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 blocked shots. With his 4 blocked shots from his previous game, he has 10 blocked shots in hi last 2 CIF playoff games. While he is clearly a great offensive force, it is good to see that he can play a little defense. His opponent Brandon Mc Coy, , finished with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Mc Coy fouled out with just under 3 minutes to play

Man, how much more embarrassing is our last second loss at UCLA now? Seriously, as much as I don't want them to hire a great Coach, I don't like seeing them this pathetic either.
Having said this, when USC is hitting their 3's, they scare the shit out of me.....we'd better be ready for them.....we need JJ too

Nah, don't think it's embarrassing. Our game will get the same treatment as their win against Kentucky - a fluke.Bangkok Wildcat wrote:Man, how much more embarrassing is our last second loss at UCLA now? Ok,my bad, you're right Fight.....how about exchange 'embarrassing' for 'painful' instead....this was our 'down' year . Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
no heart, no coaching. Showed up for Marquee opponents, then got buried by marginal teams and couldn't even scare up a care for their in-city rival in Vegas. Sad.
Just don't get how Alford and his awesome flame out in the first round as a 3 seed was UCLA worthy. His Iowa days were OK, basic decency aside. But his time at UNM was nothing but being a leader in a mediocre conference and never living to their seeding when the big boys showed up. UCLA running Ben Howland, I don't care how many high school coach/player handler and shoe pimps he pissed off, dude could coach....to get that?
It's almost like Guerrero was in on some fix

Brutal, just brutal....but entertaining to read.
PS. UCLA looks screwed for the foreseeable future, lol.....Not sure why you'd trust DG to hire a better HC after his lame Alford hire (a Hail Mary hire to me after all the rejection from good coaches)....the UCLA job with all of its natural advantages, is a dangerous job right now for any good coach IMHO.
Lol at Alfraud (their name, not mine but it's seems apropos) doing just enough to make a quick firing decision very difficult. He negotiates a huge contract, makes two sweet 16s (last year didn't even deserve being in the tourney but got there by playing us tough in the P12 Championship and on UCLA name recognition), has an absolutely awful third season with no NCAA tourney, BUT has a great recruiting class coming in next year.
Will be a real soap opera at UCLA next year as he tries to showcase Baby Alford at PG while having the #1 PG, OND, recruit coming in......I can't wait to watch!

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Sorry Mr. Bug, not trying to rub it in but I've disliked Alford since long before his UCLA days.......I do want UCLA to be good (not better than us of course) but your AD and unreasonable fanbase (poor attendance included) has turned the once proud program into a disaster......starting most recently with the quick souring/firing of Howland.MrBug708 wrote:Worst loss to USC in 71 years and Alford thinks it's not so bad yet
Seriously, there must have been some way to have turned that around......am I wrong? At the very least, before firing him, couldn't y'all have had a decent 'sure thing' waiting rather than the desperate Alford hire?

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Wow, just watched Alford's comments as opposed to reading them.....'I've (and we've) done a poor job of getting the message to these guys...' Wow, sounds like he's actually blaming the players as opposed to really accepting responsibility himself. He sounded arrogant while 'acting' contrite.
How/why would a player be motivated by a guy like this.....also seen him on the sidelines acting unemotional many times...almost apathetic compared to the intensity of CSM.....Man, I'm so happy we are blessed to have CSM!!! Hope we never lose this future HOF'er...,only a matter of time before he breaks through the FF and more.
Back to Alfraud, what a mess he's made of the program......with all the talent they get easily to choose from with so little effort and they have this Dbag as HC.....love it! Will be so fun to watch next year's inevitable meltdown.....just hope they let DG hire his replacement as well
