Wow, what a disaster for Cal.

So after a first round loss and a brewing sex scandal, the dream is already over for Cal after less than a year. If Cuonzo leaves they will be a disaster next year.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

Sex scandal? Martin involved or is it a recruiting thing Ala Louisville?

On top of that, there will be a mass exodus of talent and no one to step in and play at the same high level. So they're going to suck next year.

Re: Cal recruiting
Well their recruiting already seems like it's jacked and we've seen the Singer/Byrd/Matthews crew try to lead a team and the results weren't good (7-11 in PAC two years ago). They could pretty easily revert back to a seven win team even without going through a coaching change.ASUHATER! wrote:So after a first round loss and a brewing sex scandal, the dream is already over for Cal after less than a year. Re: Cal recruiting
As I recall, Tennessee gave absolutely zero fucks when Martin bolted.
Here's an article from the time he became Cal coach: http://mweb.cbssports.com/ncaab/eye-on- ... leave-vols" target="_blank
I distinctly remember hearing that Tennessee front office folks were thrilled he was gone.
Given the sexual harassment suit they are currently embattled by, given Martin's own current sexual harassment investigation over what he knew and when over his assistant coach both dicking around with an uninterested reporter, but getting her fired by denying her needed access since she refused his advances, I wonder whether the two aren't linked in some same.
This is just me rambling, but I would be curious to see if anything happened at Tennessee under Martin in the lawsuit. If not, it's a hell of a coincidence.

How did Cal's AD completely disregard the red flags with Cuonzo?

After all the crap many of their posters have posted about us, I'm enjoying this .

Always got that snake oil salesman vibe from Cuonzo. Still don't think everything was 100 with his last recruiting class.

So if he's the top target of a power five job expect what, a contract to be signed within three or four days?

Apparently he doesn't sign those...SCCats wrote:So if he's the top target of a power five job expect what, a contract to be signed within three or four days?

So Hansen thinks the two if them would follow Cuonzo to Georgia tech... Even when neither of the two had Cal in their top 5 at all before. OokkkkOlsondogg wrote:ASUHATER! wrote:From where? Cal doesn't really have any to steal

cuonzo has a few fires to extinguish at cal, but it's still one of the cushiest jobs in d1 basketball. kick up your heels and enjoy the ride, coach.

4 jobs is a lot for 6 years. Even Todd Graham thinks that's a little much. The last three are all basically lateral moves too.ASUHATER! wrote:Cuonzo Martin leading candidate at Georgia tech

Re: Cal recruiting
Hey Spaceman, I am not impressed with Martin in the least BUT he certainly appears to 'being thrown under the bus' in that sexual harassment investigation at CAL....of what little I've read.
Even without that though, his job-hopping certainly seems like a habit for him.....smh.

Re: Cal recruiting
He would be a fool to stay at Cal with the looming scandal and with next year shaping up to be a down year. It is a shame he had to take Raab from us, though.ASUHATER! wrote:Cuonzo Martin leading candidate at Georgia tech

or maybe the sanctions will lower expectations at cal, if that's even possible, and allow cuonzo to put it in cruise control for a little while

Was hoping the Suns would take him with their second 1st. Don't know why he would go back to school

What a shame that Cats not only missed out on a great player but a clear one and done player that looks to be coming back for his Soph year.

Jesus if he doesn't leave to be a lottery pick he must be the biggest mama's boy in college basketball history. I get coming back to a team that's a major contender, but at best with the roster they have and especially the coach they have their ceiling is sweet 16 next year.

Considering their ceiling with brown and rabb and Wallace this year was 23-11, 4th place in the league and a first round exit to Hawaii...next year their only goal is to just make it to the tournament period.

Re: Cal recruiting
Rabb is a lottery pick right now. Seems like coming back to school will only hurt that projection unless he gets significantly stronger and takes that next step NBA GMs are expecting. If he doesn't dominate a Pac that will be a whole lot less talented at the 5 spot next year, what will he do when he makes it to the league?

I don't get it....Can someone please tell me why/how CAL is #25 in the AP (I know it's way too early to take seriously) and predicted #4 in the Pac-12?
I realize they have Rabb....but how good are they really going to be this year? Also, their recruiting looks unimpressive so far.

Is the Mullins, Senior Grad Transfer from Columbia you are talking about? I think the jury is still out as to whether he is better than Jordan Matthews who Grad Transferred out to Gonzaga (and lit up SDSU yesterday). But he looks good so far...just not sure if he's materially better or it's a wash....MrBug708 wrote:That PG they have is supposed to be really good
