There is an element of things that scholarship players get that walks on don't, but yeah, the coaches son could probably alford to be a walkon.

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
I doubt Leaf is a 1-&-Done, but I really don't think it matters once they get to this point. As you said, Adidas will still be selling UCLA gear next year, and that's all that matters. If Leaf wears UA for one or two years, no big deal. It's not like he's going to transfer and lose a year.MrBug708 wrote:He's a 1 and done (not sure I buy that from his camp) talent and UCLA will be an Adidas school for his one year here.Chicat wrote:Where's TJ gonna go at this point?Merkin wrote:and the TJ Leaf commitment.Chicat wrote:How does that affect the Compton Magic connection?MrBug708 wrote:UCLA will be making a major announcement tomorrow. I think this signals that UnderArmour will get even more involved in AAU and high school partnerships.

Probably more that the Compton Magic don't want to be it uber obvious that they steer their most talented guys to Adidas programs. Give it a couple of years and we'll see them ship most of their talent to Bobby Hurley.MrBug708 wrote:Sounds like Hands isn't worries about the move. Gotta think signing Curry helps buy credibility. Part of the Compton Magic "funnelling" is because of David Grace. He has close ties to the program. If Adidas wanted to steer guys to UCLA, Brown would have been at UCLA this past yearChooChooCat wrote:Probably more that the Compton Magic don't want to be it uber obvious that they steer their most talented guys to Adidas programs.
