San Manuel de Allende, Mexico. Anyone been there & have any comments about safety, food, anything?
I went through quickly about 12 years ago with a couple of buddies on our way to a surfing spot and the area seemed great.
My wife and I are both artists and I recall San Miguel was a little mecca for art, so we're set to go there for six days to mingle and hike(the town is at 6000 feet).
I know, I know----someone's going to say "No se EOCT, pero cuidado tonto".

Re: San Manuel de Allende
A lot of gringos have moved to San Miguel recently, it been a popular place due to the nice weather, architecture and the art scene that you want to check out. Due to the influx of gringos, it's safe.
I don't know much more than that. I say go for it!!

Thanks, Wyo.
I checked our State Dept site, and while there's an overall alert for Mexico San Miguel is deemed safe, as you say.
I titled my query "San" Manuel, rather than the city's actual name "San Miguel". Gringo tonto, no? (I worked in the mine in San Manuel post-Undergrad for a couple of periods to finance my MBA----that's my pitiful alibi.)
