I know Beach Cat is asserting that Trier won't return this season, but other than him, there does seem to be an expectation that he's coming back soon.

Re: Allonzo Trier
If Trier won some sort of appeal and was only penalized for half the season by my figures he could be back in the second half against the Utes...who seem to only play teams who do not play defense...

Sounding more promising that he'll be back.Longhorned wrote:I know Beach Cat is asserting that Trier won't return this season, but other than him, there does seem to be an expectation that he's coming back soon.
Re: Allonzo Trier
well semester starts next wednesday, so if he's back because it was a semester thing then i'd expect him back for ASU next week. if it's a plain "half year" suspension, then the Utah game is game 16 out of 31 so maybe he'd be back for Colorado?
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

That's extra hilarious because I've been known to say I live right outside of Pittsburgh , instead of just "I live in wheeling, wv" when asked where I'm from.
On the bright side, as long as I'm back from a poker trip, wheeling wv is the home of one of the best high school invitationals in the country this weekend (CRC at wheeling Jesuit U) and I'll get to see Bowen up close and personal this weekend. I should be back in time. His HS is supposedly the top ranked in country.

This post had me momentarily freaked out that AT had been ruled ineligible for the remainder of the season.
I know less about the inner workings of the men's basketball team then anybody here.
Since I moved out of Tucson 12 years ago and am now in WV, I doubt your inner workings claim.
What part of WV?? I'm in the northern panhandle near Pittsburgh PA
I grew up 30 miles SE of PGH in the Forbes Field, Rosy Roswell, Ralph Kiner, Danny Murtaugh days.
I even cheered for Sihugo Green on the Duquesne Dukes hoops team.
I am now 30 miles SW of Beckley in Wyoming County.
If I ever make another trip to see family in the PGH area, I could look you up. I seriously do NOT get to talk to AZ hoops fans or even college grads here.
I fantasize about returning to Tucson to get my 100th medal in the Tucson Senior Olympics this coming January. I have 97 so far. How much competition can I have in the 80-84 bracket? Maybe the 2 studs who kept edging me out in my age bracket are in wheel chairs by now.
Yeah shoot me an inbox. I'm always at the Rivers playing poker. The casino in whg is pretty much a joke so my home casino is basically the Rivers. I'm always down to drink, gamble, and talk UA hoops w anyone.

Sean Miller says Allonzo Trier
Bruce Pascoe, Arizona Daily Star Published 11:15 a.m. MT Jan. 4, 2017
“I wish I could talk more about Allonzo,” Miller said. “Hopefully, in time, I can, but, I mean, the only thing you have to do is just watch him during the games to see how much he cares about winning, how bad he feels about not being able to play, and I think how much he really cares about Arizona and his teammates.
“He’s engaged and he’s been that way in practice. You have to realize today is our 51st practice, 52nd maybe, and he’s been a part of every practice. He’s not injured. He practices with great spirit and energy and competitiveness that’s helped our team as well, and we’ll see.”

Re: Allonzo Trier
I am going to say he doesn't suit up for the tip tonight but at halftime he suits up and scores 20 in the second half to lead us to a comeback win. I have a good source on this info

Adding AT to this team would be incredible. We're already much better with PJC in there. Imagine when we can start bringing in AT at the 15 minute mark.

Theres a reason you turn on a game and hear multiple analysts say we are a serious final four contender with Trier back. Lol

Trier's body language is incredibly supportive. He's like the first guy leaping off the bench cheering most of the games I've seen being at McKale. I hope that means he's stay for another year no matter what happens this year.

No kidding 1stNGrant.....he looks like an excellent teammate (to be fair, they almost all do) and I've really missed watching him slash to the bucket for a 'and 1' opportunity. If the bball gods crap on us and we don't get to see this again, on top of all the shitty things that have happened to us this year (Ray's injury being #1 by far), I'm going to be so pissed.1stNGrant Frys wrote:Trier's body language is incredibly supportive. Re: Allonzo Trier
IF in the case of PED's (big if in an unknown world) Trier won some kind of appeal, (the speculation is it is most likely that he was unaware that he ingested a banned substance) there is a process where the appeal is granted and he is given a reduced penalty, which in this case is 50% of his eligible season.gumby wrote:Am I the only one worried now?
You guys are cool!
In this case, Miller would play it safe and not even consider playing him until at minimum 50% of season was played...we jut hit that benchmark last night.
Now then Trier would need to be "RE-instated" which is a paperwork process (that includes a clean drug test) proving he had met all penalty requirements...THEN the NCAA reinstates him...
Soooooo....either it gets done today or sometime next week (because it's Friday and the NCAA is mostly made up of Lawyers who like to golf) there is a chance he is not cleared to play until next week...
This is all based on speculation of why he is suspended...if it is NOT some sort of PED anomaly that he won an appeal, then he ain't coming back this season, no matter how positive he reacts on the bench.
