I'm not even mad at Martinez for that one, Quintana should've gotten that. We gotta find fielding consistency at the most important position on the field though.

Cameron had a bad game for sure. The 2B to SS adjustment got him with the yips. But he is a talented player who can field and rake...as long as this isnt a mental block. But if he can get a handle on it, he offers a 300 level hitter with some pop up the middle. Louis struggled with errors as well this season before the injury, and is a #9 bat. Would love to be able to bring him in for defensive purposes.
CWS rematch today against Okie St. This should tell us how our starting pitching is shaping up. Our #2 so far this year has not been good. Game is at 3pm and is on ESPN WATCH

I don't think we can take a risk with Megill in this game. I'd expect to see Rio Gomez out on the bump today. Sunday and Tuesday's starting pitchers should be interesting though.
Nebraska then Texas Tech. I believe they are all ranked. Need to find that #2 and #3 with a spot guy like Ginkel was last year for those Tuesday games

4 singles so far have pushed 2 across in the bottom of the 4th, still only 1 out. Flynn has needed 52 pitches to get through 4. Looking good again today

Faulkner gave up another HR (that's 4 in two innings for him), why Johnson kept him in for the 8th inning is beyond me. 9-6 Okies, this one is all but over.
Bottom of 9 and its tied. We need to plate one here men

Can't believe we were up 6-0. Going to need to find some consistent pitching.

Hey I've never been one to over exaggerate right?
My god this team.
We need to find some more reliable pitching though. Flynn did an admirable job through 5 innings for sure and I think he may have it in him to be the Saturday/Sunday starter as the season goes on. Our bats though....woooo boy.
This team for two years now. Just fuckin balls. Last year, a decent team goes thr hard way everywhere but MSU in the postseason, then this year, more cardiac. We are a top 10 team with a slow pitch softball #1 who is all of a sudden unhittable and a mix of upper classman too stubborn and freshman too green to lose

I certainly hope Flynn can become that 2nd guy. He looked good today, and if he didn't get hit by that ball, I think that inning would have played out a bit differently. Deason and Faulkner were bad, Schnabel was fine, and Ming was his normal self today. But between the hitting and the mental fortitude this program has developed, I'm very excited for this year already.

Had high hopes for Deason, Faulkner, and Megill coming into this year. Deason had a great summer in Alaska and both Faulkner & Megill came in fairly highly touted. Faulkner has looked good outside of tonight's outing though so I hope he can get it together. 4 HRs in one game though, yikes.
I can see it coming down to Cloney and some mix of Flynn, Gomez, and Megill for Saturday/Sunday.

the really mean part of me also loves that it was Sluder that dropped that ball.
I thought for sure he ended us last year with that 1st inning catch in the CWS that held to be the play of a 1-0 game. He is something else out there. The part of me that loves the game loves watching him play CF, but the Arizona fan in me definitely liked the payback.

I was actually feeling the same way. Funny, I knew he was going to get to that ball, it was just a matter of whether the landing was hard enough to lose it. Got lucky tonight at least

That 1 run continues to hold out. We had a runner at 2nd and Quintana hit a rope but right at the SS. Going to the bottom of the 8th down 1-0

0-10 with RISP today. Gave up an unearned run before the first out, didn't allow a runner to 2nd after the second inning. Gomez was good on the mound but we just didn't string anything together. On to Texas Tech on Tuesday.
Was much more concerned with how well Rio did instead of us leaving 9 on base for the future.
In regards to this game though did anybody else think Jay got a little too cute with all the damn pinch hitters? I didn't see a good reason to take Lewis and Voss out of the game when they have been performing well all week. When you put yourself in a position where you need a run to tie the game and you trot Hoard and Bowman out there to pinch hit in the 9th you messed up somehow.
Arizona beats the two ranked teams it faced this weekend and loses to the worst team of the bunch's Sunday pitcher. That's baseball for ya.
Nebraska was 2-6 coming in ugh. Texas Tech beat Ole Miss and LSU this weekend so that will be a tough game.
Quintana was hitting .514 coming into today, unreal

Wow. Once upon-a-time, every year, year in and year out Arizona and ASU one or the other were going in the CWS (not just the playoffs) and almost always UCLA or USC was there to greet us. My how times have changed. I know its early in the season but RPI numbers in the hundreds ain't gonna cut it if they want to get to the playoffs. USC is not in a terrible RPI position but look at who is ahead of them in the PAC-12. Weird.
Another 'traditional' baseball power school, Texas, is #89 and second last in the Big-12. Florida and Mich. St. are OK, but where the heck is Miami? (#151).
What has happened to these guys? Doesn't anybody play baseball anymore?
Any sufficiently advanced troll is indistinguishable from a genuine kook.
The 12 scholarship limit has been the great equalizer. Those that are creative seem to do better.
Huge game tomorrow for our RPI
