That rarely ends with the coach jumping out from behind a screen wearing the fresh new uni Nike just provided.

Clock is ticking Alford...if an when Crean goes...

The longer they wait to fire Crean, makes me think they are waiting for Alford. The fans are against it, but the money guys probably remember his heyday.
Except for fact that Junior did sign a NLI...but it can be undone, obviously.

Gotta think UW shoots for moon and goes all in for someone like Few, or Marshall, or even Archie...but ends up with some coach we haven't heard of yet, but will throughout the next couple of weeks.

I'm sure this is 100% based in his promising coaching prowess and nothing else.
Sarcasm aside, this is why the NCAA is a joke. Cal is literally going to pay his father in order for Porter to go there.
Cal? Have you not heard? Mizzou is going to pay.

yeah Cuonzo is the HC of Missouri now.
I opened that thread next. Cut me some slack, there's some craziness going down today.
I guess Cuonzo's speech to Ivan Rabb about building something loses a little luster, huh? Going from the Vols to Cal to Mizzou is one of the weirder lateral moves ever.
Give Cuonzo three years and his bags will be packed for Illinois...

If I was porter I would sure ask Martin about his use of Ivan Rabb but it won't matter because he is going where daddy is going. Wasn't there a rule though about someone being hired and bringing in there kid?

Not at 7/21. That "last contract you ever have to sign" territory.
To maximize you need to tank, get them to fire you after three, Get them to pay you half the value of the remaining four years (so you get $15M over 3) and then sign with Illinois.

Use of Rabb is irrelevant. Staying another year just showed the holes in his game that he can't just fix. Athleticism and desire are things you just have.

Maybe so but I still felt like there could have been more done to allow Rabb to show his skills. He has a pretty good face up Game and maybe ore pick and pop would have worked. I guess bottom line was that I was just not a Martin fan

Pasternack would be a good hire for Cal. Would need to worry about the academic side of things with that 3.0 standard Cal likes to tout, but it would be a good move on both ends.

Can't see him taking that job. He has a low-pressure gig where he can win 20-25 games a year without much effort against inferior competition, does not have to fight for 5-star recruits every recruiting cycle against more established and prestigious programs in the same conference.

Who cares? It is a short-term gain employing a star recruits' father and getting the kid for one season. If the rest of the team is mediocre, it won't matter. Look at Washington this year; they had the number one or two pick in the NBA draft and couldn't win 10 games.
Not sure why Marshall would take that job. Especially if he is really making that much at Wichita State. Seems like if he was going to move on he would go to the Big Ten. Also insane Cuonzo got a $21 million dollar deal! But I guess he will bring Porter with him.
I wonder if Cal goes after Chris Mack. He's done an awesome job keeping the Xavier train rolling.

Maybe Cal goes after Pasternak?
I don't see why not, but Randy Bennett and Eric Musselman have to be their first calls. You have to get told no a few times before you get to JoeP.

I'm a fan of players directly benefitting from their ability and being compensated for the revenue they generate as the market allows. I think this situation lays the hypocrisy bare. The NCAA won't allow players to profit off their ability...unless you have a father that can be "employed" for a single season in order for the school to claim they aren't paying anyone.
This is obviously paying for Porter. It's only because the NCAA is stuck in the denial of what college sports really is that a school has to go through such a demeaning charade.

My thoughts exactly....color me unimpressed big time.....all he ever did was beat us for Rabb and underperform at CAL....I expect the same for him at Mizou.

He is still playing last I looked.
I thought I read the other day he was the oldest player to put on a Bucks uniform.

But seriously folk. JET would need at least a couple of years as an AC somewhere before he takes control of the clipboard at a 'power 5' school. Maybe the guy at Georgia Tech would give him a chance to show what he can do and teach him the fine art of recruitment.
Any sufficiently advanced troll is indistinguishable from a genuine kook.
Cal and UW can "go after" Gregg Marshall, Mark Few or any other A-list coach who makes their jobs seem like the Pac-12 power it really isn't.
But the writing is on the wall for these programs, recruiting-wise, and every coach on their short lists knows it. For every recruit looking at a Pac-12 school, it's Miller, Altman and everyone else, in that order--and will be the case for decades to come.
No A-lister like Few or Marshall is going to come in and kill himself to break that stranglehold. They might allow their names to be thrown around to let the ADs shine a better luster on the position, but at the end of the search, it's a hungry assistant or an unproven alumnus from a smaller West Coast college moving up.
And yes, it would indeed be a beautiful life for Miller to ink Romar by the time they get to Phoenix. As for Randy Bennett, he's been on more of these short lists than Jamie Dixon and has let that power conference window pass him on down the line. Unless Berkeley backs up a Brinks, it isn't even getting him.
Alford bolts to Indy, Pasternack to Cal and Cameron Dollar to UW by April.
I think that outside of UCLA and Arizona, Washington is the most attractive job in the conference. And no, I'm not forgetting Oregon.
I'd be surprised if there wasn't serious interest from some pretty good current head coaches.

Romar was on the verge of being back next year. If someone can come in and convince that incoming class to stay, that someone possibly would be in great shape for a long time.
