This team just doesn't have the pitching to make a CWS run. Jay is certainly trying to find the right guys, but it's just not there yet.

Last 2 games the pen has blown 2 run leads in t by e late innings. He keeps giving Megil a shot but he has yet to deliver.

Randy LaBault making his first start for the cats today. Would assume Rio Gomez has the bump tomorrow

Much more concerning to me is we put Ming out there with a 2 run lead to consecutive games and he couldn't get it done in either. At this point in consistency on the bump it's:

1. Cloney
100. Everybody else

1-0 OSU bottom of the 4th.

Yep choo, Ming seems to be having problems throwing his curve for corner strikes. Hopefully he gets back to form. Looks like they like Floyd out of the pen and he has been decent.

Not sure where our staff was last year at this time past knowing Bannister was our Friday night guy. Starting the conference on the road for the first 6 games isn't easy.

I think at this point last year, it was Bannister on Friday, Dalbec in the 9th, and searching for answers everywhere else. We had the series at Utah last year where we led every game going to the bottom of the 9th and still got swept. It's a long season.

Yeah this point last year it was Banni on Friday, Cloney on Saturday, and typically Ming on Sunday. Dalbec the closer and Ginkel hadn't made himself a major part of the rotation until a mid-week ASU game where he destroyed them.

Right now it's Cloney on Friday, Gomez somewhere in the mix, Ming closing, and who knows.

4-3 beach as our starter puts the first two on then we trade an out for a run but Schnabel gives up a base clearing double with two outs. Ugh!

and Oregon State wins 5-4, due to Kyle Lewis missing the throw 1B on an easy play, followed by a stolen base, followed by a wild pitch, back up catcher can't find the ball, and game winning run.

Bullpen pitching and fielding. Ugh.

Why exactly did Johnson take Salazar out of the game to pinch hit Seve Romo anyways?

Three bad beats in a row if you include the 8-7 loss to UCLA last weekend. Looks like game three of the series might get rained out.

5_3 as we chip away. IF we get swept its not like OSU is not the top ranked team in the country. I think we may not win the conference but to me the goal is to be top 8 and host a super regional

Lost the game 11-7.

I just don't see how we have the pitching to be top 16 to host a regional let alone be top 8 and host a super regional.

Last year's team was one win from winning the title and they did not host any regions. Last year the pitching found itself late in the year and there are some guys on this team who could make contributions to help JC.

Be still my heart, good pitching from someone not named Cloney? Randy Labaut and Cody Deason combined for a 1 hitter as Arizona wins the game and the series against USC 5-1.

Pitching coming around and at the same time as last year. This week we play ASSU and if we can get a strong performance it will mirror what Ginkel did last year against them.

USC has a pretty good line up and really in 5 of our last 6 games we have received good starts from our pitchers. Oregon St will be in Omaha and be one of the favorites but I think we can host a super regional if we can find a way to go 20-10 in the conference. We have the next 6 at home in conference I think (Oregon and Utah) and if we can go 5-1 that would put us at 10-5 and on time for that record.

I think we are right where JJ wants us to be

As usual lots of SEC love. It will take care of itself as long as we keep winning series. Our road record of 2-6 is bothersome but with 3 of those losses being in games where we had a lead going into the 8th inning some hope can be taken from that I think

After the ASU game we actually go on the road to play @Wazzu for the usual 3 game tilt, then play @GCU, then we get the 7 game home tilt with Oregon, Utah, and NMSU coming on over.

I think it was pretty clear from the get go last season that Bannister and Cloney were 1A and 1B and Ming was working his way into the Sunday starter. Ginkel obviously made his presence known and felt during that ASU game where he shut them out. I think the picture is still a bit cloudy overall, but there are guys stepping up (Labaut, Deason, Gomez). The picture is certainly starting to come together, but it's still far from complete. My concern still is Ming seems to have regressed. I hope he figures it out soon.

Should be a nice night at the yard with lots of runs scored. Team ERA for us is now under 4 at 3.95
