Arizona has zero defense. That's the bad part of this game. If Arizona scores 35....UCLA can score 55.

Arizona can't cover anyone at this point. Secondary is in shambles. LBs look green and the DL fizzles out quickly. This could get very ugly but the Mora effect makes it closer than it should be.

Just stop it. You are praying UA loses just so you can be right, so pathetic.

UA played fairly well on D for a long time on Saturday. The quick scores by the UA offense hurt UA's defense.

Also CU is so much better on D than UCLA, but UCLA is going to stop UA when CU couldnt?

For the most part the D looked pretty good until the 4Q, esp. that 19 play drive by CU. Even though it led to a CU TD, it was played pretty well. Good pressure on Montez most the night.

With the exception of the DBs constantly being beat deep. I counted 4 times where Montez missed a wide open WR who got behind coverage. Rosen won't miss those.

The usual MO when the UA gets beat deep is to give the WRs plenty of cushion, play 10+ yards off the line by the corners.

Rosen is just salivating thinking about it.

Since neither team can be stopped, seems the last to score wins? Unless some unexpected turnovers happen then it's anyone's game.

Not a football guy, so not sure how only the defense gets gassed out there on long drives.

I'm praying that Arizona wins. I'll be on the pregame show. Gotta play the part. Colorado's offense and Montez are pathetic. That was not a good outing for the Arizona defense at all. Arizona's offense is looking a lot better but the D has to at least show up.

Watched Buffs and Bruins, which was closely contested in LA. Buffs could have and should have won.
Was in Boulder and as some have said, until 4th D was pretty good but definitely got gassed. Elevation and nearly double the plays defended can do that. Part of reason Montez missed some throws was due to pressure and hits he took in 1st half.
Very clean game by Cats, so encouraged that focus on fundamentals during bye paid off. If Cats take care of the ball, they'll have a Great chance for the win, jmho.
Side note Boulder is an Awesome place to catch a game! Great college town, with Spectacular views and vibe! Likely back for visit in 2019. New indoor facility is Sweet, and staff would do well to visit for ideas.

A little series history (to the best of my knowledge):

First meeting: 1971 (UCLA 28-12)
At Arizona: Series tied 10-10 (last Arizona win: 2011 48-12)
At UCLA: UCLA leads 14-4 (last Arizona win: 2010 29-21)
Overall: UCLA leads 24-14

We can score. They can score. Rosen makes a ton of plays, but can make some unforced errors trying to be aggressive.

They should be the favorites, but we have a puncher's chance. Turnovers decide the game, IMO. If we can cause a few and avoid them, we should win. Even or losing in TO's and we lose.

certainly looks like another 45-35 type game. Hoping Tate gives us the energy bump as needed but while UCLA has not shown any tendency to stop the run I still think they find a way to get it done at the end.

I just wish Yates would be ultra aggressive as it seems the other team scores anyway. Scoring faster gives our defense rest LOL and besides I like to watch Tate. Maybe we can get a couple of pics off Rosen, although I am not counting on that to happen.

As for Chief on the radio, that's just bad, like smoking. But hey, he is just a poster and he doesn't want any type of media gig.

Too many of you are like petulant children, I swear.

STOP WITH THE CONSTANT PERSONAL ATTACKS.

I'm tired of casually glancing through a thread and seeing nothing but personal attack after personal attack. If you really don't like someone that much, just put them on block/ignore/foe list or just use a little self control and don't respond to them.

I'm going to start editing posts if you guys can't control yourselves. After that I'm going to start closing threads. After that I'll start the banning process if you can't control your damned childish impulses to do nothing but call people names. I don't mind a little dig here and there, now and again, but this shit is getting out of control with some of you.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

I think the Bruin receivers will get past the CB's a few times but the CB's seem to be pretty good in the short and mid-range. Especially that Whittaker who had some really good plays to stop a few completions. I am hoping we can put more folks in coverage if UCLA's run game is so bad. The key is if we can pressure Rosen, with Miller and Schooler, that hopefully will be possible.

In regards to alcohol in the stadium, if you can't figure out how to make that happen, that is on you.

Really? Whittaker got beat like a drum, IMO. Yeah, he made a couple highlight reel pass deflections while he scrambled to get into position, but there's a reason he got picked on all night. And it's not because Colorado thought he was good.

Our entire secondary, with the possible exception of Demetrius Flannagan-Fowles, is putrid. Beat deep. Beat on intermediate routes. Decent on short routes when not 10 yards off the reciever. Beat in the run game.

Our entire secondary, with the possible exception of Demetrius Flannagan-Fowles, is putrid. Beat deep. Beat on intermediate routes. Decent on short routes when not 10 yards off the reciever. Beat in the run game.

Burns got burned. DFF got burned. Most of the DBs did. DFF can't pick up coverage and bites on runs.

I do think they have underperformed as a group. That said getting good pressure consistently is job #1. Will make them all better.

I also would bet the DFF gets drafted next year in the league which says something at least for his potential and measurables

Remember beginning of the season the secondary was supposed to be the shining star of the defense due to immaturity and LB and being undersized on the DL? What happened?

Suspect alot of the reason they got burned was they (players and staff. . .) were thinking run support first due to how badly the front 7 was getting plowed by CU's run attack.

Im concerned that no one is probable to play though. Tough to win with no players.

In serious news, first game of the year I will head down for. Surprised since I would have bet the team wouldn't have done anything this year. Thinking how close they could be to 5-1 or 6-0 is actually amazing.

No kidding GCat. I have not gone down yet and actually gave away my tickets to all the games until the Wazzu game. They are very close from being 5-0 and a win here would do wonders for the program. Go down and bring us back a win

Some sobering stats there in regards to the passing game. I really don't see how we're going to stop the passing game from UCLA. I also don't think Tate has another performance like the one he just had in colorado (there's a reason record breaking performances don't happen very often). I think we're close at the half, but in the 2nd half UCLA pulls away a bit before a late UA score makes the scoreboard look closer than the game was.

score prediction:
48-38 ucla wins.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

It's been awhile since I've seen the pessimistic PoM! Though I think you might have inadvertently nailed it

I expect Arizona's defense to play better at home than on the road. The crowd will be pumped and that should give the D a little lift. If Arizona's offense converts and doesn't turn the ball over, the defense can make just enough plays to get a W. Can't give up big plays to UCLA, can't give up big plays on special teams. And can't lose the turnover battle.
