Alford about to lose another one today. Duane Washington expected to pick OSU over the Bruins. Good move, kid.

Worst case scenario - Book was the lone gunman

Ok scenario - Arizona hit with sanctions

Best case scenario- Alford just involved enough that the buyout is voided and we move on from him

Perfect scenario - guerrero goes

I'm only responding to this - repeat, not as a troll or flame - but Adidas & TJ Leaf for example; does it go that far? I have literally zero knowledge & am guessing but I am curious how the main target of the FBI seems to be Adidas & money they shipped - so far to all or mostly Nike school assistant coaches.

I can't wrap my head around this & I've been reading about it nonstop for 5 hours now.

I have hesitated to be too strident on this because Book got nailed, and it certainly looks like for good reason. I don't want it to be like I'm trying to make excuses.

That said, as dirty a business as recruiting is, when you look at things like UCLA's surge in taking Compton Magic prospects from Arizona, I can't believe there aren't reasons.

The difference, I can see a company wanting to throw money at a Jaylen Hands or Jahvon Quinerly to go to a UCLA or Arizona. The schools that are cleaner are schools like Oregon State. No one wants to throw money at a 2 star to go to OSU.

Past that, like I posted in the Louisville thread, I doubt there is any recruiting power that is 100% clean. It's a slimy business.

I certainly won't say UCLA is clean but David Grace has pretty deep ties to the Magic and I'm sure Did as is still taking care of that program. I vet Howland hiring McCray, and the recruitment of that who class of Anderson and Bazz and probably Kevon Looney are the biggest issues ucla will have to face.

Ironically enough, the Ball family is probably clean in all of this. Lavar probably gamed the system in other ways

How does one get deep ties to an AAU program?

It's a rhetorical question that I'm pretty sure I know the answer to.

I'm saying in today's world, deep ties to an AAU program means you have deep ties to shady stuff.

UCLA is the only clean program. All others are dirty.

And didn't they have that kinda weird dance where Alford gave back one contract year last year?

The one thing I'll say is things might change (a bit? a lot?) now that Bryce doesn't need to be shoehorned into the lineup.

Yup, but it was only get get his assistants raises, not necessarily because he felt he did a poor job

One source told ESPN that nearly 20 police officers came into the Hyatt Hangzhou at approximately 8 a.m. local time Tuesday and spoke to multiple players from both Georgia Tech and UCLA. The players, according to the source, were kept in a room for hours and not allowed to speak to any of the coaches.

"During the questioning, it was determined that Georgia Tech student-athletes were not involved in the activities being investigated," Georgia Tech said in the statement. "They have resumed their scheduled activities in advance of Saturday's season opener versus UCLA in Shanghai."
