This is on Miller. He is not coaching well. Stubborn and not making adjustments. He is digging his own grave.
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Not trying to hate on any Cats but I've just never seen what Miller loves so much about Ristic. He's a backup/sub at best. He really hasn't improved much at all over the years. And he's just not aggressive enough for what we need right now. Looking at this game alone when he's been on the court we look bad...when he comes out we look way better. Im not pinning our struggles on one guy, it's more than that, but Ristic really hurts us on both ends right now.

Lute didn't have an awful tie knot for one.

Here comes yet another blowout. Is this what it's like to be an asu fan? Down 7 and we'll fold

I think you have to be more of a d-bag to be an ASU fan. And possibly have Herpes.scumdevils86 wrote:Here comes yet another blowout. Is this what it's like to be an asu fan? Down 7 and we'll fold

Susan (autocorrect for Dusan, but it works better) playing his patented ole defense.

I think he dug his own grave when he failed to recruit a Division 1 point guard in the last 3 years.luteformayor2 wrote:This is on Miller. He is not coaching well. Stubborn and not making adjustments. He is digging his own grave.

Am I a bad fan if I am glad when the Deuce gets in early foul trouble?
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Pretty inexplicable. Regardless if PJC's camp pressured him, the fact that he has brought in such amazing wing players and centers and NO point guards is fucking ridiculous.dmjcat wrote:I think he dug his own grave when he failed to recruit a Division 1 point guard in the last 3 years.luteformayor2 wrote:This is on Miller. Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
It's the Ayton and Trier show. We have no one else. Rawle will give us a third solid player. We need a few freshmen to develop. I see flashes from Lee and Randolph and even Barcello. My biggest concern is our Seniors...Ristic and PJC. They need to be more consistent, better on defense, and just give us something.AZMoon wrote:We have average to below average guards.

Hard to win when our opponent shoots 65% consistently
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
When RA gets back and if we go with the 4 upper class men and DA they would have no one to blame but themselves if we didn't get things done. Bring Pinder off the bench first and then play the 2 freshman who show the most on defense

We just can't compete with any semi decent teams. That is so embarrassing when we have consistent top 5 classes.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
A zone might be the only defense this team can play. Risky but worth a shot.
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Both PJC and Trier are being eaten alive by dribble penetration.
One of our guards is a midget and not particularly athletic and the other is a ball hog with little interest in defense (and he's not the most athletic player either).

Have to go zone with no D offense only guys like Trier and Ristic.
Not so sure about Ayton either. He is going to be eaten up big time in the league.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
On the bright side Im impressed with Barcello tonight (he missed a few looks but they were good shots). Also feel some more energy from Ayton and I love what Ira Lee brings.
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Ayton is a god. The rest of our team are the homeless people littering his creation.
Maybe Trier is a teacher or something.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
I don't even see offense from Ristic. Trier makes up for the bad defense with his offense at least.Merkin wrote:Have to go zone with no D offense only guys like Trier and Ristic.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Everyone loves to pick on Dusan, but it's the guard play that is below average on this team.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Trier's court vision just isn't good enough to be running the offense. He missed a wide open lee there for a cross court pass.
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Man just does not seem to be an option with this team when you look at the bad defenders and the indifferent defenders and try to mix that into a scheme that can winMerkin wrote:Have to go zone with no D offense only guys like Trier and Ristic.
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
3 things we miss
Kadeem Allen
Rawle Alkins
Lauri Markkanen
We have no replacement for those 3......although we do get Rawle back.

Dylan Smith isn’t a high major D-1 basketball player. What the fuck is he doing on this roster much less on the floor?
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
We don't have any players that know how to play and also play hard.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
We'd still be a top-25 team if we just had decent pieces around Ayton. Fortunately, the PAC-12 looks weaker than everyone thought in the preseason so maybe we'll be able to compete once Rawle gets back.

We'll be down by 10 at the half at best.

Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
This is the first time in 7+ years I've had the feeling that a 5+ point lead is insurmountable by our team in any given game.

McCoy is a beast
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
Well that sucked.

Have to wonder if we will get out of the non conference above .500? By Tuesday we might have 5 losses already

Akot is definitely our 2nd best perimeter player until Rawle gets back and he never plays.

Question: Does anyone still think we should "Win and Vacate" and sacrifice future recruiting classes/Tourney eligibility???

How embarrassing for Miller. His players don't even care.
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
I can't believe how bad this team is compared to what the expectations were. I guess I understand it now. We knew PJC would be a problem. We miss Kadeem. We miss Rawle. Our freshmen aren't ready.
Re: Game 8, at UNLV (2017-2018)
I can't even say we don't deserve to be down these points
"Coach, how were you able to penetrate that Arizona defense?"
"Well you see, they suck at defense. So we just went right at them."

And yes I mean trying to get six guys on the floor.
