We've not exactly "taken care of business" on the road this season. Also, ASU arguably needs this game more than we do.
I'm gonna put a little faith in our guys. AZ 84, ASU 80

Re: '17/18 Polls
I have faith in our guys, but zero faith in Pac 12 officials. ASU will get 25 FT's and we'll get 12-14. Ayton will get at least 2 offensive fouls called on him for breathing too heavy. Gonna be a challenge to overcome ASU and the refs.Beachcat97 wrote:We've not exactly "taken care of business" on the road this season. Also, ASU arguably needs this game more than we do.

Re: '17/18 Polls
Advanced metrics simply can't predict point spreads for this year's Arizona. That's because they use all the relevant statistics that balance to an average, which is of no use in accounting for the variable of whether Arizona comes to play, or just comes out totally flat with an entire first half of no effort on defense and no focus on protecting the ball. The point swing on that variable could be as much as 25 points.

If we build off USC effort we should dominate the boards again.

6-2 straight up and 4-4 vs the spread isn't getting it done on the road?Beachcat97 wrote:We've not exactly "taken care of business" on the road this season. Also, ASU arguably needs this game more than we do.

There's no metric for which personality shows up. Are we the Dr. Jekyll nicely letting UCLA penetrate us? Or are we Mr. Hyde, doing the penetrating against SC?Longhorned wrote:Advanced metrics simply can't predict point spreads for this year's Arizona. I still like Vagina losing at home to an unranked team and moving up to #1.

I'd say that (19th century literature based) doesn't exist, but I've learned never to underestimate the internet. If it does exist, I'd assume Balzac is front and center.Olsondogg wrote:What porn genre are you watching?Spaceman Spiff wrote:There's no metric for which personality shows up. ASU back into the top 25 in both polls. We need a statement win on Thursday. I hope Ayton shows everyone he's still Dre.

Interesting to see where we land this week. Not sure how we wouldn't be in front of TN and Clemson.

14 in the AP poll.
Re: '17/18 Polls
Doubt that has anything to do with it. Who has Cincinnati beaten? You can run down the poll, and ask the same for a few teams.PHXCATS wrote:Not sure it does or should but 0 wins vs teams currently ranked may play a roleEastCoastCat wrote:http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket ... hurt-march

Re: '17/18 Polls
Not to mention “beating ranked teams” is a product of acc and sec and big 12 confirmation bias and prematurely assigning ranks earlier in the season. Gee what do those three conferences have in common?

A&M and ASU were 7 and 3 when we beat them. Those were and remain damn good wins as at the time we beat them each were playing at elite levels.

Re: '17/18 Polls
The answer to your questions is that a week 16 AP poll can't make sense.
Re: '17/18 Polls
Comical how voters treat Gonzaga & St. Mary's. The Gaels would be lucky to be .500 in the Pac. Zags were sweating late in 2nd half at home vs. a 4-win Pepperdine team.

Which to spell it out is in their interest to promote games and reviews that lead to voters assigning favorable ranking for conference teams largely in their footprint.

Re: '17/18 Polls
I think all three of Texas A&M, ASU and Alabama are frightening teams for a high seed to have to play on the first weekend. All three do have more work to do to get in of course. Alabama has a brutal stretch run so they may not actually make it, but that’s a talented roster.
