Ayton is the the new Brandon Ashley, any contact gets a foul call against him.

At this point I'm not sure Alkins would be taken in the second round. Doe's not look confident in his game at all.Merkin wrote:Why is he going to the league? He has no handles, a poor shot, terrible decision making, and can't think of even why he is out there with 2 fouls.Gladiator Cat wrote:Alkins should be a rebounding machine or riding the bench. Because Arizona. Ayton is his own arc.Phylek wrote:How does Ayton get offensive fouls in the arc?
Cats need a lift off the bench, from anyone this game.

Has Dylan Smith made a field goal in the tournament?

so pjc will have 2 misses on his 3 point attempts that really shouldn't matter
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:
Re: Pac-12 Tournament Game 3, vs. USC (2017-2018)
We tried to foul there and they didn't call it. Do these refs have skin in the game?

I'm not even sure Trier would be a 2nd round pick, completely disappears again in the first half.Gladiator Cat wrote:At this point I'm not sure Alkins would be taken in the second round. It's amazing we keep getting beat by the same pick & roll play on Rikocevic.

welp despite the glaringly obvious issues, we're only down 3 at the half.

Re: Pac-12 Tournament Game 3, vs. USC (2017-2018)
Ill be shocked if rawle gets drafted. He honestly couldn't step foot on an NBA court right now. He can't shoot, he's an avg. defender. He's pretty bad on the break and driving. He's going to need a lot of years in the NBDL.Gladiator Cat wrote:At this point I'm not sure Alkins would be taken in the second round. Cats getting beaten off the dribble and via bounce pass to the posts. That's it.
Better footwork and more aggressive drives against the zone will have Cats winning this title going away. Unfortunately, this is not that kind of team, and the result is yet another react-and-respond first half.

Basically in the 2nd half the ball should go to either Ayton or Dusan even with the zone. Our guards and wings are sucking it up tonight.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this team adjusts to USCs ball screen offense. Absolutely killed us in the first half RUNNIJG THE SAME DAMN THING

Seriously he is the single player most responsible for us not being ahead by 8. But I don’t think he is selfish or a mercenary. Just playing like shit. If he floats one more ball into the rafters and clangs it off the back of the rim, I give permission for Ayton to slam the ball in his face.

Rawle will have a better 2nd half
Trier needs to get more aggressive and start driving the ball and getting fouled.
And we need to stop their big dumb looking white guy

Arizona is out-rebounding the Trojans 20-11. Can you imagine this game without all those turnovers?

As good as Ristic has grown into being in most facets of the game, his four-year inability to stop the pick-and-roll is the reason SC is ahead, and Rikocevic is responsible. Just too easy, and I do look forward to a defense that can recover off high-post screens next season.Alieberman wrote:Rawle will have a better 2nd half

Re: Pac-12 Tournament Game 3, vs. USC (2017-2018)
Dylan Smith is 0-8 from 3 point range in the Pac 12 tourney.
Alkins is playing like absolute shit. If he was a freshman, he wouldn't be playing at all.
It's a shame that Randolph hasn't developed and the coaches don't trust him. We could use some help right now. Akot had a bad turnover and a bullshit foul. But he plays hard.

Re: Pac-12 Tournament Game 3, vs. USC (2017-2018)
I'd love to see us play zone for just a possession or two, just to see how it would effect USC. But I doubt our execution would be any better than our terrible man defense fundamentals.

Younger, quicker players. If Ira Lee hadn't had his concussion protocol, I would've loved to see what he could've done in first-half situations in this tourney.Alieberman wrote:With what players?!!!catgrad97 wrote:As good as Ristic has grown into being in most facets of the game, his four-year inability to stop the pick-and-roll is the reason SC is ahead, and Rikocevic is responsible. But yeah, at this point, Ristic has far more pluses than that minus, and it's up to the rest of the packline to provide help.

With a once in a lifetime talent like Ayton on your team, you can't waste this opportunity. We've got to make this work.
The rest of the team needs to man up.

Ayton is also getting fouled every time underneath the basket but apparently he's too big and athletic to get anything called
Re: Pac-12 Tournament Game 3, vs. USC (2017-2018)
Cats 2 of 10 from three, and nine turnovers (Rawle's got to have eight of those).
Unacceptable.

Re: Pac-12 Tournament Game 3, vs. USC (2017-2018)
you have to remember AZ was in an overtime game last night with the second best team in the conf, while SC basically had a scrimmage

I'd be really interested to see what this game would look like with last night's officiating crew.

If Alkins and Trier could step up their play on the defensive end, we might actually be a dominant team.

Terrible last possession by Arizona. Nobody moved, and all perimeter passing. Embarrassing in March.
