Buffalo should give us a good game. I said before in another thread, of all the mid majors, Buffalo was the one I didn't want.

At this point, fuck it.

You have to beat good teams to get to the final 4 and win the championship. If this team can't beat Buffalo, Kentucky, Virginia, cincy/Tenn, then don't even get on the plane.

BTFD! I want Virginia, just disappointed it may happen in the S16.

I needed to do my venting.

I feel better now.

And now I'm ready to kick some ass. I am kind of feeling more nervous about the potential matchup with Kentucky more than Virginia for some reason.

Am I crazy?

Could've had an easier draw, but there are some positives. Get down to the bacon early vs Kentucky: no fucking around. Hit another packline team in Virginia. Enter the situation to advance to new territory in the Miller era with a victory over Virginia at our backs.

not to me, if Arizona can beat Buffalo and survive Kentucky then I love their hopes of finally making the Final Four for the first time under Sean Miller.

We're basically going to (probably? most likely?) get man to man from both Kentucky and Virginia, yes?

How often have the Cats played a man-to-man defense? It seems like everyone zones against us now, and we have had so much practice against the zone we've mastered it.

I haven't watched either a ton, but my understanding (ok it's more of a guess) was neither played much if any zone. Pack line from Virginia and I can't imagine Cal plays much if any zone with his highly rated, young athletes at Kentucky. But if anyone knows them well I'd be interested in hearing from them.

We fucked up our season a bit early.
Then we had some bad fucking luck along the way (thanks espn).
Then the NCAA fucked us a bit with this seeding (but not as bad as Virginia got fucked), and Trier's suspension.
But when the tourney games start and the Cats are on the floor, we will be the ones doing the fucking.

For all the teams in our way.... prepare your diddly-holes.

Virginia is straight packline. Cincy is very good man with some zone, Tennessee is pressure man. Cal plays man but might bust out the zone.

Either way, if Arizona makes a run they're going to face top tier defenses. Kentucky is on a hot streak and getting better.

So we're gonna get fast answers. Beat Kentucky in the second game and the world is our oyster. Ask Tony Bennett if he thinks Arizona is underseeded and whether he thinks Sean Miller will have a good grasp of packline vs packline.

that is 100% a fair comment - further, ive already looked at potential regional possibilities and the only option is Final Four, and that might be a long shot.

stay tuned...

I am leaving the country Thursday morning for 13 days and most likely will not be able to watch any of the first four games.

I can't blame myself for any jinx this time. Expecting a Final Four when I return, despite being bent over by the committee.

No, because I think Virginia is a talented team that rarely has an off night and is very good at their style of play.
Next year the starters on Kentucky's team would not be one of the 5 worst nba teams. They are getting better but still inconsistent and make mistakes.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Here’s the thing motherfuckers, if there is one thing that we should have learned from all that has gone on this year is that when it comes down to it none of this matters. If you are a championship team you go out and you beat whoever the fuck dares to set foot on the court with you. You play your game and stay within yourself and you beat them. It doesn’t matter what the Schlabachs it other lying media types have to say - you stay true to your self and your team and you out and beat them. Ask Jason Terry what all the seeding and hype mean. He’ll tell you in no one certain terms how to dismantle three Number 1 seeds.

6 games. Nothing else matters.

Come on, that’s hyperbole. The Kings or whoever would throttle this Kentucky team next year.
Let’s not underestimate how big that jump up in level is.

And by interesting I mean I’d be interested in hearing and accepting the terms of the wager.

This is my perception. They really don't know much about Arizona, or probably west coast basketball in general.

It's not so much that they don't know about us, they are just saying all sorts of stupid things. Some think they're better than Virginia, others have no idea how seeding works, just lots of random cluelessness. I have no issue with them not knowing the pieces of our team.

I thought it was cool that a lot of those posters were worried about AZ.
It is interesting to see opinions from outside of our fans and the talking heads.
