That is insane...there should be 4 SEC teams in the Final Four, right?
If the SEC gets screwed like that they should secede from the union and create their own playoff.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
I know that sounds ridicous but who else do you put in the top 4 this week?
But that's this week, there is still half a season and conference champs to be played. What happened this weekend means that all of a sudden a lot more teams became relevant to the football playoff
I thought we were deserving of a top 10 rank prior to all of those teams losing this week. Now what I see and what should be are one and the same.
But due to previous poll bias we'll likely be outside the top 15 and at least 5 spots below Oregon.

If we were in the SEC West we'd be 30 spots higher.

And Oregon at 29? Yeah, didn't think so....

I think people have no idea what to do with us. And maybe I can't blame them. That is why the USC game is so important. Are we a 1 hit wonder or are we for real?
OK, I had to post to the comments about that story, because it's completely obscuring the importance of most everything that happened in the Pac-12 in favor of the usual tired, non-fact-based SEC-driven BS.
Arizona has the toughest SOS of the remaining unbeatens. Who are those games against? Is it the SEC?

Better. Not sure why Michigan State is two spots higher, and of course IMHO having three of the top four teams out of the SEC will be proved to be an incestuous manipulation of the system, but beat USC on Saturday and at least one of those problems should take care of itself.
Can't believe that it's the biggest jump in 25 years.
I almost wish we were ranked a little lower so we'd play with a chip on our shoulder. The only time rankings really matter is at the end of the season. But this is huge and the coaches and players deserve a lot of credit. As we've seen the PAC12 is wide open. Take it one week at a time, don't overlook anyone, because they'll all be gunning for us.
I am already so nervous thinking about this game. A win and an Oregon win over UCLA and we own a 2 game lead over the LA schools.
Another program defining game. Lose and most fans will say typical Arizona. Win and all of a sudden the excitement level in Tucson is palpable

This. I don't like or think we should be that high, but I think if there is one coaching staff that can keep these dudes down to earth it's this one
Shocking is hardly the word. Is it a misprint perhaps? Maybe voters confused UA with Auburn? Has to be some explanation other than the Cats finally got some due credit..

Wow!
We are the only undefeated PAC-12 team, so it makes sense.

Holy Cow, BD89 was right! We are getting way more respect than I thought we would.
Jumping from out of the polls to #10 is insane respect. Likely too much.
We have got to take advantage of this opportunity and take the next step...........we have to kick this ********* door in and make this legit with a win over USC.
This could turn into the Cinderella story of the year and I think a bunch of folks in the media now want RR to win big and cover the story.
I don't care what anyone says............a win over USC is potentially the biggest win for the program in the modern era.
Please please please don't shit the bed next week! I'm not worried about the coaches being ready, but will the guys be dialed in and rise to the occasion.
Don't be afraid of expectations and being highly ranked...................EMBRACE IT!
Wow, like just about everyone else I didn't think we had a shot at the top 10. But boy does it feel good.
Also found this bit from an early CBS poll funny:
18. Arizona State (NR). Welcome back to the rankings, Sun Devils! But couldn't have found a way to beat USC in, you know, a more exciting fashion? You in-state rivals overturned a three-touchown deficit in the fourth quarter before their Hail Mary, you know.
“The reality is that the hardest games to win are over teams on their home court. Teams that don’t play those games can spin it however they want, but what they’re saying is, ‘We don’t want to lose in our non conference season.’" - Sean Miller
Win against usc and we're solidly in the top 8-10 in both polls. Then the season can be special. Not the playoffs necessarily but one of the playoff bowls like the fiesta or something.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
I'm not sure why everyone is overly surprised. Look at how many teams lost this weekend. Not only that, Oregon has become a huge brand name and winning in Autzen is seen as nearly impossible. Think Cameron or Phog Allen in CBB.
1 Arizona Wildcats
Record: 5-0 overall, 2-0 conference
Previous ranking: 5
First the Hill Mary, and now this? Life is good in Tucson. The Wildcats' 31-24 win against previously undefeated Oregon didn't have the feel of a typical upset. Playing at Autzen Stadium, Arizona simply was the better team for most of the game and now is the only undefeated team in the conference. The Wildcats may have had some close games, but until they lose -- which could be any week based on how the year has gone -- they are the obvious No. 1. After that ... chaos.

Really?
Please, somebody tell me how this team is like any other team that Arizona has had ever? Please name a coach and a team that compares to TY's team?
LY we lost to wazzu because we needed Denker to play well if we were going to win - look at every game we lost and let me know which game Denker played really well and we should've won? Playing well in the 2nd half vs SC doesn't cut it either as he sucked balls the entire first half when the game was being decided.
We haven't even played a complete game as yet and we're still 5-0. Keep in mind that RR has a pretty decent record when playing at home (13-4 SU and 3-0 as a home dog). Other than that your post was spot on.
