So it isn't just a eye test thing. Duke has jumped to #27 in Kenpom adjusted defense. Think they were in the low 80s/high 70s, so a jump of about 50-/+ spots. Duke's #27 defense is better than Villanova's #36 ranked defense. lol they're winning it all aren't theyNYCat wrote:Duke is soooooo much better on defense without Bagley.

Duke is winning the 'ship. Since going to the zone they've improved defensively, they're now #10 in Kenpom defense, paired with that top 3 offense.

It's all lining for them again, every top seed losing which leaves Duke. They're going to play Kentucky, Michigan, Gonzaga for a ' ship and win. BTW their defense is at #8. Offense #3.

Still not sure I trust those freshmen to come up big as the stakes get higher. Michigan, Zaga, and Nova have more experienced players. Kansas too. The last time Duke won they had some key upperclassmen. And they were better than Grayson.NYCat wrote:NYCat wrote:Duke is winning the 'ship. Who knows? They look good, but the tourney is still the tourney. Personally, I like Nova a lot, so they'll probably lose in the Sweet 16.NYCat wrote:It's all lining for them again, every top seed losing which leaves Duke. The NCAA would not comment on any specific cases. "A prospect or student-athlete cannot receive preferential treatment or extra benefits based on their athletics ability," said NCAA spokeswoman Stacey Osburn. "This would include money from any source."
The players families are already getting paid and the players benefit from that and will get paid once they go pro. It's the agents that want to be paid.

Even if True, Mr. K will blame all this onto Capel - Which is why he recommended him for the job. That way Pitt will be looking for another coach again next month.TatetheGreat wrote:People have been posting that exact accusation on Twitter for months. Nothing will come of it because Duke.

So this is what happens when the Fed's disrupt adidas money, duke gets all the recruits.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Re: Duke
One of the hardest things in life to deal with as a parent are the moments when you just have to be real with your children. Last night, midway through the first half, my 7 year old daughter looked up at me with tears in her eyes and asked, "Daddy, is Duke going to lose this season?" It broke my heart, but I had to look her right in her eyes and tell her, "No honey, it's a wrap."

Re: Duke
People are gonna be slobbering over Duke all season long, but I'd still question how those young guys are going to handle the bright lights and expectations in March. A more experienced, well coached, physical team could beat these guys. I'm sure Wright and Izzo would love a shot.

One and done in March. The 2014-15 Kentucky team was an undefeated juggernaut. They lost to the same buttholes that beat us.Beachcat97 wrote:People are gonna be slobbering over Duke all season long, but I'd still question how those young guys are going to handle the bright lights and expectations in March. In a way it would be sweeter if Duke dominated until a massive tourney upset.

Re: Duke
They're not going one and done But we all know the tourney is a mutha. Small schools are not intimidated. Duke is only going to reach the FF if they turn out to be an unusually mature team. That talent is undeniable, but like you said, Spiff, UK has had multiple teams like this, only to fall way short of the goal.Spaceman Spiff wrote:One and done in March. It shouldn't. GIlbert wasn't a peripheral figure around UCLA until after Alcindor was already on campus, which was what I assumed is what brought the comparison of freshmen beating a varsity squad?Merkin wrote:Reminds of the old John Wooden days with Sam Gilbert and no scholarship limits.

I loved the continual tirade of the announcer calling it straight... ...saying that Duke basically protected him and allowed him to get away with this crap while in college.
Big knock on Coach Krezzekidsish (just typed a bunch of keys without thinking - got the "K" though)… … you know who I mean.

I love the announcer making Herro's ball fake out to be something special. All he did was fake left and go right and Allen fell on his ass. Good thing Herro didn't drive to the basket or else he might've been tripped up by Allen.Chicat wrote:

His leg was way up in the air when he was falling on his ass. I thought it was funny that that's how the video ended, of him air tripping no one.zonagrad wrote:I love the announcer making Herro's ball fake out to be something special.
