That seems weird to me, unless he's taken an assistant job. He built that program from a class of just freshman, is UTSA so cocky they think they should have a pair of CUSA titles by now?Coop Cat wrote:

Interesting choice. I'm sure he is getting a nice raise, but he is going to a completely unstable situation.MrBug708 wrote:Noel Mazzone and son to TAMU

Sounds like a done deal to A&M. Didn't realize Mora was firing him. Sounds like a significant raise. From $650k at UCLA to 7 figures at A&M. Son is coming with him.MrBug708 wrote:Pretty good deal if it works out, considering he probably didn't have a job back in Westwoodthe real dill wrote:Interesting choice. Re: Coaching Searches 2016
My God, Rip Scherer is still coaching?
He was an assistant OC under Ben Griffith when they were running the wishbone at Arizona under Dick Tomey in the late '80s.
EDIT: Not quite that old, but two years from retirement. If RichRod falls to a Rip Scherer offense next season, it'll be funny, and sad.

Re: Coaching Searches 2016
Rip Scherer has been an admin in the AD at UCLA for a few years now. Its an easy name to throw out. I wouldn't put it past DG on trying to get it pushed but you might as well cancel football if we hire him
Re: Coaching Searches 2016
Polumalu to OC/RB, Tui to QB coach, and Schere to TE coach

Our recent OOC Cupcake rival, UTSA, hires Frank Scelfo as OC.
UTSA: Sources tell FootballScoop Frank Wilson plans to hire Jacksonville Jaguars senior offensive assistant Frank Scelfo as offensive coordinator, LSU grad assistant Ryan Pugh as offensive line coach and LSU offensive analyst Jeff Kastl as receivers coach. We understand InsideRunnerSports is reporting the same. We previously were told that LSU analyst Chevis Jackson was going as well; but sources tell us that at this time Jackson intends to remain at LSU.

Some of smoke out there of Miles to SC.
I hate SC.
I don't root for other Pac-12 teams against non=conference foes.
but...
I like Miles, and if Miles to SC, I'll root for SC to curb stomp all those SEC teams and their fanboys.

I know Helfrich is still the Oregon head coach, but I would be totally shocked if he is the Ducks coach next year. I think the leading candidates would be Art Briles and Charlie Strong(will not be back for Texas).

CST,
Don't understand your take on Miles. He got fired from LSU because despite all those high-level recruits, his offense sucked.
And now he's going to come to the offense happy PAC-12 and kill it?

Re: Coaching Searches 2016
Les Miles refuse to change the offense at LSU. Why you think LSU just say f#$k it. Plus they started 2-2 with all of those high level recruit. Would you fired the winning football coach of your team if you didn't like the result.UAEebs86 wrote:CST,

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: Coaching Searches 2016
So if Nike U makes a change and they offer record comp, do they try for a read option guy like Meyer or try to scale Everest and go after Saben?

I figured Texa or LSU might have made a run at him, but did not happen.
Cannot see him at Notre Dame, and no other jobs will be open that could afford him.

I cannot imagine that Oregon would hire Charlie Strong after his disastrous stint at UT... The Horns have commitments from 7 players from the class of '17 and are ranked 74th (that is hard to do)... one of the knocks on him coming into this season was his poor recruiting.
Arizona may have to take a risk by hiring a guy whose reputation has taken a hit and is in need of repair... Oregon does not.
Re: Coaching Searches 2016
Pete Carroll 2002-2008 ruined USC forever. If whoever their coach is isn't winning the conference and 11+ games by year 2, they will want blood.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.
