Does it matter that Heeke cannot verbalize WHY he supports Coach Miller, just that he does?
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Depends on if you are a body-reading scientist or just a guy looking at body language through the lens of a non objective opinion...Spaceman Spiff wrote:Does it matter that Miller and Heeke both have body language of a hostage reading a letter about how well he's being treated while supporting each other?CatFanOneMil wrote:It is an amazing ability to be able to assign motive and intent to nebulous snippet of conversation that are neither clear nor unambiguous...Heeke said he supports Miller, Miller said he appreciates the support...THAT IS ALL WE FUCKING HAVE...
The narrative that Heeke is trying to railroad Miller out the exit is a completely made up narrative with no actual data points behind it....firing Phelps may actually be a support move by Heeke for all we know...but people are going to believe whatever they've made up their minds to believe in spite of the facts, we know this now...this is America...everyone has an opinion everyone has a different set of facts and everyone is right...SMH.
Data. Facts.Evidence.
For a society that prides itself in science and logic we seldom defer to the facts anymore.
The only facts we have point to Heeke supporting Miller...the rest is conjecture.
Given that Miller has been through hell and back for the last few years, given that each and every media meeting he gets asked absolutely stupid questions and MUST give the exact same "I am not going to comment on that" many times each interview...I'm actually surprised he even does media at all...I am less surprised his body language is negative and I have no baseline for Heeke since I wouldn't know his "hostage" posture from his "kidnapper" posture...

Maybe he didn't want to go to far? Maybe he has a limited vocabulary for this kind of stuff?
I have no idea...but at this time I must accept that he says he DOES support Miller...
That is a positive that everyone keeps trying to spin into a negative...
We need more information if we are going to change the electrical charge of a conversation...or at least a bigger opamp.

Limited vocabulary? Did we hire some kind of thawed out caveman to be the face and voice of Arizona Athletics?CatFanOneMil wrote:Chicat wrote:Does it matter that Heeke cannot verbalize WHY he supports Coach Miller, just that he does?

Maybe “Me support Miller!” flies at Central Michigan, but this is a real program.

Re: Jason Scheer
On some level, I'd say body language matters, and so does the things Heeke can't or won't say. But Heeke and Miller work in a large, very public institution with all of its constraints and the important reality that nobody in that situation can expect the institution to love them and the personalities to get along. Superfans (like me) who pay attention to these things, which are otherwise unnoticed, can see the constraints and discomfort. But I'd be surprised if Miller gives any shits about anything other than the facts of his staff doing dirty things and getting caught and fired, and what that means for himself and his basketball program.

Re: Jason Scheer
Heeke maynot be the best AD or the AD for long, but he is not the biggest issue at U of A right now. We all have to remember that, and everything he does he is running by the lawyers.

Well, you've got my vote for Arizona Athletic Director.Chicat wrote:Heeke seems over his head.azcat49 wrote:Thank you so much for posting that interview. I Am a dumb shit when it comes to reading between the lines. Generally the vote of confidence is killer so where are we. I know the boosters seem to be solidly behind coach at least through next year. Throwing Phelps to the wolves is puzzling though and Heeke seems weak IMO. Is he just saving his ass?
He’s completely powerless (unlike the Football situation) but at the same time there’s so much shit swirling around the program that he wants to seem on top of things and in control. But he’s neither, and acting totally reactionary.
Heeke would be better served letting the NCAA guide his hand. Just don’t do a fucking thing until outside forces mandate it. Then if the NCAA fucksticks drop the hammer on us, fire anyone and everyone. Until then? Circle the goddamn wagons and shut your fucking mouth.

Re: Jason Scheer
We've secretly replaced your Arizona athletic director with Jay Silverheels. Let's watch.
"Me support Miller. He not like other white man Phelps, who speak with double tongue. Hunt down Phelps with rest of Cavendish gang. Trail not run cold yet--only two, three days old."
EDIT: Come to think of it, that may be too eloquent for Dave Heeke.

The original on the one I used before was too small - here is another one that is bigger without any blending effects added to it - this one is 900 × 780:Jefe wrote:Get me a large enough jpg of that and I can put it on a shirt haha

Seems weird that someone in the media pays credence to a clearly mentally unstable "fan". I personally think a tweet like that reflects more poorly on Scheer.

I don't know what Scheer's career goals are.... but he pretty much pigeon holes himself as a message board guy by keeping this shit going with anyone who he doesn't like.

Re: Jason Scheer
I can't believe I'm typing this response, but Scheer isn't wrong. Mandel's comeback is these two columnists told you for years Larry Scott sucked. No shit, Stewart, we could see that with our own eyes. Canzano is acting like a child because his sources are Oregon and Washington, the two schools we know don't want equal revenue sharing. Scheer called him out.
Re: Jason Scheer
It is incredibly unprofessional
Seems like going on the radio has gone to Scheer's head.
He might be a good dude but the way he acts on Twitter at times especially today is very unprofessional

I don’t get your take? I am not a fanboy of Scheer but I am glad he went after them and of course ESPIN back when.
Sounds like you are anointing Canazano as an all knowing scribe. He, Wilner and Mandel are all hacks

Everyone has a source and those sources have their knowledge and their goals and desires. Canzano and Scheer clearly speak to different people. Doesn't make one right one wrong.

No it doesn’t but it’s not unusual for someone on Twitter to imply they have heard otherwise. I thought the ATHLETIC guy had really thin skin and he was the guy who really set off the lightning storm.

Re: Jason Scheer
Was Mandell calling Scheer just another "fan"? I mean, I'd light him up too if I ran a site dedicated to reporting on college sports and some other writer implied I was just a butthurt fan.
