On 1/24, we lost to USC by 23 points and yet tomorrow we're favored by a point. What am I missing?
Re: 2018 PAC 12 Tournament--TMobile Arena
Jeter playing and a semi neutral court. Also SC has been playing poorly lately

Re: 2018 PAC 12 Tournament--TMobile Arena
To beat us, you run a zone for large stretches of the game. Seems pretty obvious. We have no outside shooting, and we are sloppy with interior passing.
USC would have to be ice cold on offense for us to have a chance in this one.

Lol at discussions about chances for winning the auto bid. This is the last game of the Miller Era - his last March choke-job of his career probably

Doesn't Virginia play packline? I assume his love of zone makes him a Syracuse or UDub fan.

Rough end to a rough year. Dylan Smith being 1-7 from 3 is pretty poetic.

Anyway, virginia is garbage bennett ball, another packline only team and unsurprisingly the first #1 seed in history to lose to a 16 seed!
I am only for whichever defense fits your personnel and matchup. That means you need more than one defense. having one single defense prepared for ten years in a row is just unbelievably stupid

When the least intelligent opinions tend to come from people who dislike Miller, and vice versa, what does that say?
Heck, you fault Miller for having one D for 10 years and slob on Boeheim, who's run the same D for the last 40 years.

So, just to get things straight here, if Rancid&Flaccid can troll, can we in turn ridicule its wife and dog? I mean, what's the official line here? As Walton says: "That's not a foul. It may be a violation of the laws of human decency but it's not a foul."UAdevil wrote:R&F: stop reporting posts when folks react to your trolling. JFC.
As a person it's nothing but toxic. It doesn't have a sense of humor. It knows we take its kind of ridicule of Miller as a personal affront so why does it cry when it gets a taste of its own medicine? I'll abide by the ruling of the court, but if my responses to Drop&Dump trigger reports to the mods then I want to know if I can persist. In fact, I'd like to know every time it reports me. Stats matter. I want the Gold Jersey.

I guess I’m rooting for Oregon tonight. If they win, there is no way the committee takes 3 Pac teams right?

I think ASU might be on the wrong side of the bubble right now. With an Oregon win it just reduces the remaining at-large bids by one.Frybry02 wrote:I guess I’m rooting for Oregon tonight. If they win, there is no way the committee takes 3 Pac teams right?
But yeah I think that would seal the deal.

And Grand Canyon is one win away from getting in.
GCU in and ASU out would be sweet schadenfreude for this horrible UofA season.

Count me as one who thinks ASSU has done enough. I do think we can get three in depending on upsets

ASU is in solidly. If they had lost to us or in the first round of the PAC 12 tournament then maybe not, but they are in as a 10-12 seed.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: 2018 PAC 12 Tournament--TMobile Arena
ASU is in pretty much guaranteed. Oregon probably is just in as a play in team. But hey after all this the PAC 12 will have 3 teams in the tournament. Oregon winning probably knocked a team like NC State or Indiana or St Louis out of the tournament. Tomorrow I'd bet Washington is a 8/9 seed, ASU is a 10/11 seed and Oregon is a play in 11 seed.

Re: 2018 PAC 12 Tournament--TMobile Arena
Washington isn't deserving of an 8-9 seed. They've beaten a lot of mediocre teams and that's it. How many tournament teams have they defeated? Oregon. That's it. Their resume is actually pretty weak.ASUHATER! wrote:ASU is in pretty much guaranteed. Oregon probably is just in as a play in team. I did not think the auto bid would be a play-in seed
Re: 2018 PAC 12 Tournament--TMobile Arena
My PAC12 Tournament Adventure:
Left work at lunch, picked up a friend, and drove to Laughlin Tuesday night.
Drove into Vegas Wednesday morning for the game. The UA's performance was a microcosm of the
entire season. Dylan Smith couldn't dribble the ball or shoot. Brandon Randolph couldn't hit the ocean from
the beach. We looked like we had never seen a zone defense.
After the miserable game I checked into my hotel (Park MGM). This was the first time I have attended the tournament
where the Cats were out of it before I checked in.
Despite the Cats losing I did attend one game each day: USC/UW, UO/asu, UO/UW.
There were a number of common threads for each game:
1) The Disk Jockey was horrible. He played Hip Hop/Rap at a decibel level that could be heard by deaf people. The vast majority of the crowd was middle aged
white folks who wanted to hear anything but what the DJ was playing. The noise was so loud I had to yell at my friend to have a conversation. The guy sitting
next to me was debating smuggling wire cutters past the metal detector and cutting the DJ's power cord.
2) The halftime shows were mediocre at best. The shows included a "Magic Act" where a woman would repeatedly jump inside a bellows type curtain (which was pulled up by
her male partner) and quickly change into a new outfit (This duo was at Mckale for the final game against asu so it was a re-run for UA season ticket holders).
The act might have been slightly interesting except for the fact that the female obviously had so many layers of clothing on that she looked like a pregnant hippo.
Another act included 2 Street Performer types. One tap-danced (badly I might add) and his partner banged on a couple of 5 gallon plastic buckets. I saw the same act
on Fremont street a few days later for free (and it was better)'
The Championship game featured the "Drum-Bots" which essentially consisted of some really bad drummers banging on lighted drums (with the lights off) while wearing
lighted hats. The noise level approached the Disk Jockeys Hip Hop/Rap. Those folks that attended all of the sessions were blessed by the fact that many were already
deaf from being subjected to Larry Scotts DJ
3) The basketball was bad.......really bad. There was a lack of overall talent and the games were (for the most part) not competitive. Dana Altman once again gets my
vote for best coach in the PAC12.
4) The attendance matched the talent of the teams. The Championship game had (at most) 8,0000 people in attendance. This was the poorest attended PAC12 tournament since
it moved to Las Vegas. The UA, as usual, had the most fans but the number of Cat fans was seriously down from previous years.
5) T-Mobile Arena is a new, state of the art venue, but has all the charm of a large, cold mortuary. I liked the MGM Garden arena much better. The upper deck at T-Mobile
is so steep that one needs mountain climbing equipment to rapel down to ones seats.
6) All in all, the tournament was a collection of really mediocre teams, with poor attendance and mediocre half time entertainment, with a really bad DJ who obviously doesn't
understand that the 1st rule of being a DJ is to play to your crowd. A truly "Larry Scott" production.
The Park MGM has been completely remodeled. Most of the construction has been completed although there was still some work going on. Frankly, I liked the old Monte Carlo
better. There is no buffet, and no place to get a classic breakfast in the morning. I was amazed to see 30 people line up at Starbucks each morning to get a cup of coffee and a pastry.
I had breakfast at Chin-Chins and the Bellagio (Chin-Chins is quite good). I ate dinner a couple of nice upscale restaurants and visited the MGM buffet twice. I gambled at a wide
variety of Casinos (at least 8).........and lost money at all but one. I left town poorer than when I came (I have never left Las Vegas with more money than when I came).
I pray the Cats will win at least the 1st game next year.

Re: 2018 PAC 12 Tournament--TMobile Arena
If next season goes as planned, Vegas is going to be overwhelmed by Arizona fans and Larry Scott won't be able to book a room.

Great write-up on the experience DMJ.
I loved the commentary on the half-time performances

It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:
