Yup. I was thinking 10-15 games not this next season, but the following. Who knows though? I'd rather be prepared either way.YoDeFoe wrote:Miller probably takes a suspension from the NCAA as a result of the investigation. Boeheim was suspended for nine games, by way of example (I'm not equating the two cases).Jefe wrote:ChooChooCat wrote:My guess is Miller misses some games over the next 2 years as well, so Miles would be vastly important in that regard.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Do we have any examples of coaches getting that many games? Boeheim and Pearl both got half the conf slate / nine games for their suspensions, along with probation and loss of scholarships.
Re: Assistant Coaches
Interesting hire. Probably as good as we could have hoped for. Still feel for Coach Phelps

Re: Assistant Coaches
This feels like a great hire - former Arizona Wildcat who spent 8 years under Lute, coached under Pastner at Memphis with Luke and Damon. Recruited very well including the nation's #2 ranked class. Was a scout for the Nuggets and ran off season player development (lord knows we could use some help there).
Love this.

Right down to the CV. Only difference is that one coached for Northern Arizona University, and the other for Northern Illinois University.97cats wrote:stealing from a friend - Ros 2.0

For anyone wondering, Ros/Roz is Jim Rosborough, Lute's assistant for his entire run at Iowa and from 1989-2007 at Arizona. Archived bio here from 2007.

Why does nobody seem to care about how badly we want to bring those uniforms back? Do they not know who we are? Don't they understand who they're dealing with here?

Re: Assistant Coaches
That's a great hire.
David was a student/grad manager during peak of Sean Miller's time here (2010-15). All of those players love the dude - he was at TJ's wedding and keeps in touch with guys like Nick and Zeus. Coach Miller plucked him off of Pasternack's bench where he was Dir of Basketball Ops for two seasons, after spending two season under Avery Johnson at Alabama as video coordinator.
Putting him in charge of recruiting visits is a great fit. He's a Wildcat, he's hosted dozens of five star recruits, and he knows how not to break the rules. He grew up in the game and around stars of the game - his dad (Dave Miller) is an Emmy award winning NBA analyst for the Lakers and former coach (about 20 years between AAU, college, and the NBA). Dave Miller was, in his time, considered one of the best recruiters in the NCAAs. Again the younger Miller knows the game, knows how to treat recruits, and is respectful enough of the program to keep us out of trouble on visits.
Posted job responsibilities are below:
Duties & Responsibilities
• Primary Video Coordinator for Men's Basketball
• Coordinate scouting of opponents with Coaching staff members
• Serve as the primary liaison with Compliance to all visitors at practices and games
• Serve as the On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator
• Assist in all aspects of the day-to-day activities and development of recruiting
• In consultation with the Assistant Athletic Director, Men's Basketball Operations Serve as the Point of Contact with Athletics Compliance regarding NCAA, PAC-12 and institutional rules associated with the recruiting process
• Coordinate with the Compliance Office and oversee all paperwork for all official and unofficial visits
• Develop Recruiting videos and presentations
• Coordinate donor related events
This is another in a string of hires by Coach Miller where he's bringing in guys who have great integrity and deep ties to the program / coaching staff. Culture>>>>

Miller talking about JET gave me goosebumps.
I really think it's going to be a great hire, especially with the kids that aren't starting and are upset by it.... who better to talk to.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Because he was a former AAU coach known as a shady recruiting guy from the get go? Because he has no allegiance to Arizona? Because he has no real playing experience? I am trying to see how one compares to the other and I can not see any similarities other than one which I hope is not what is driving your opinion and will not even acknowledge. I can see a Damon Stoudamire comparison or a Miles Simon comparison but not Book.Jefe wrote:Feels like Book 2.0. Hope Im wrong

Getting caught with weed in our airport, taking money from an Agent while playing here, and throwing his now boss under the bus in 2018. How about the Larry OBrien tattoo before they even got to the tournament? He's not exactly level headed. I also took issue with him proudly wearing an ASU shirt for an interview but that's the fan in me. The one and only time I had to leave open practice in the late 90s was because of Terry's mouth. I was young but I had never heard anyone use the vocabulary he used in front many young fans and Lute was within ear shot. Book had the same vulgar vocab in pregame warm-ups year after year right in front of fans.gronk4heisman wrote:Because he was a former AAU coach known as a shady recruiting guy from the get go? How does this not come up in the job interview?
https://uanews.arizona.edu/story/ua-rep ... ncaa-rules" target="_blank

But UA initially could not retire Terry's jersey because of an agreement it made with the then-Pac-10 Conference in 2000 after an investigation found Terry accepted $11,500 from agents while playing for the Wildcats.
Terry was already in the NBA when the investigation concluded in June 2000, but the Wildcats’ one-game 1999 NCAA tournament appearance was formally vacated. In addition, UA asked Terry to repay the $45,363 in forfeited NCAA 1999 tournament revenue and banned him from the UA Sports Hall of Fame, including a provision that his jersey would not be retired.
But UA athletic director Greg Byrne said Saturday that Terry paid back the $45,363 several years ago and that he and UA president Ann Weaver Hart began discussing the issue with their colleagues around the conference.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Pretty sure the weed at the airport was Damon not JET. And the tattoo was a motivation for himself and the team, which may not seem level headed to you but seems to have worked out well.

That's what is happening. Murphy was for the ex players. Terry for the fans. If he helps land Banchero or some Seattle guys while he's here, good. Other than that he won't have much impact like Damon.Jefe wrote:This hire feels like Miller trying to get fans back on his side rather than whats best for the program. AZ is a stepping stone yet again
