She came in relief in the second inning for their #1 starter Harris, and then was hit in the face by a line drive.
And yes POM, the out call at second was bad. Candrea had some choice words for her.
Just read an update on Swindle. No breaks (eye socket/head/etc) so that is very good news. But swelling and pain (obviously). Doubt she'll be back out there in the regional, reportedly a family member said she'll be ready to play in 5 days. I actually thought the ball had hit her glove first from the sound the ball made when it hit her, but apparently that sound was just the ball hitting her. A sickening feeling. Very glad she's going to be alright.
Yeah Candrea was very unhappy with that 2nd base call. As were everyone else at the stadium. I'm currently searching youtube for a replay on it.
::::
Found the replay on espn3.com website.
here's a still capture
Not only can you see the ball not in the glove, you can see Malia's leg bending from having been at the bag already with her extended foot.
Here's a frame before. foot on bag, ball clearly not even close to being there.
Was easy to see live, man did that ump fuck up that call. Probably didn't help she was in the worst position to see it too. She should have asked for help on the call from the 3rd base ump. I'm really glad that fucked up call didn't cost us the game.
