Coroner: Man Who Drowned In Freezing Pond Bet Co-Workers He Could Walk Across Ice
http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/12/ ... D=ref_fark
DELTA, Pa. (AP) – Authorities in central Pennsylvania say a man told co-workers that he was going to try to walk across an icy pond last week, but he broke through the ice and drowned.
Officials said 29-year-old Hassan Muhammad-Richardson was one of 100 construction workers on the overnight shift at Calpine Corp.’s York Energy Center in Peach Bottom Township.
The York County coroner’s office said he told co-workers that he bet he could walk across the icy pond, and began to do so although co-workers tried to dissuade him.
Officials said he fell through the pond at about 3:30 a.m. Friday and died. The death was listed as an accidental drowning.
Company officials said he was employed by Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. and called his death a tragedy.

Man killed by tiger in Chinese zoo after he climbed into enclosure to avoid paying admission fee
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01 ... D=ref_fark
A tiger-mauling death at a Chinese zoo is under investigation by local authorities who say the victim climbed a fence into the tiger's enclosure.
The attack occurred Saturday at a resort on Dongqian Lake in eastern China's Zhejiang province. A local government statement says the victim, identified only by his surname of Zhang, climbed a fence with a friend instead of buying tickets. The statement said Zhang's wife and two children, as well as his friend's wife, bought tickets to enter the zoo.
Zhang allegedly passed through a wire netting and eventually climbed a wall to enter the tiger enclosure, while his friend stayed back, the statement said. A tiger attacked him inside the enclosure, as visitors to the park apparently watched from a distance. Photos and video shared on social media appear to show Zhang lying on the ground as tigers circle him.
State television reported one tiger was shot dead by local police, and three others nearby were dispersed using firecrackers. One video posted online shows a tiger gnawing on his body as people can be heard screaming.
Zhang died later in a hospital.

23-year-old man dies after chugging a bottle of tequila in a friendly bet
Published March 03, 2017 FoxNews.com
A 23-year-old man died after chugging a bottle of tequila during a friendly wager at a Dominican nightclub.
He won $630 but just minutes later he lost his life.
The cause of death was listed as alcohol intoxication by the medical examiner.
The tragic incident happened earlier this week in the city La Romana, in eastern Dominican Republic, and it was all captured on video by a cell phone camera.
The young man, identified as Kelvin Rafael Mejía, is first seen on his feet drinking the tequila straight from a bottle. When he is done he is handed the cash prize on a bill at a time and a few seconds later he can barely stand anymore and needs to be assisted by two men on each side.
Shortly after he collapses and never regains consciousness — he was taken to a nearby clinic where he was declared death.
According to El Universal, the events unfolded after Mejia approached a table where a group of clients were betting money on how much tequila they could drink in a single gulp. He asked to join.

The detective said police were able to access her locked iPhone when they connected it to a laptop found in her bag at the top of the cliffs.
Mr Stewart added: "There were six photos of her standing extremely close to the cliffs. They were showing her jumping in the air extremely close to the edge.
"Her concentration is not on anything other than what she is doing. The expression on her face shows nothing but enjoyment."

Utah man, 55, who used to encourage bats to land on his hands to feed becomes the state's first rabies death since 1944
A Utah man has become the state's first recorded rabies death in nearly three-quarters of a century.
Gary Giles, 55, passed away on Sunday at the Intermountain Medical Center hospital in Murray, Utah, surrounded by his family, according to his obituary.
Gary likely contracted rabies from bats that he and his widow, Juanita Giles, would allow to land on their hands and lick them, and even walk around in their beds.

Hadn't seen this. Guess I can get my local news here on BDW. Yeah there's some out of bounds stuff that comes out along the road up to Bogus. Bad timing on the gap jump there. No helmet either . . .UAEebs86 wrote:BOISE, Idaho (AP) Idaho State Police say a snowboarder who tried to jump a road outside a ski area boundary has died.

Re: Darwin Awards
"Bogus", had to look up the name origin. From Wiki:
The area probably got its name during the 19th-century gold rush. Crooks in the hills above Boise City, known as "spelterers", would make bogus gold dust by heating lead filings with a bit of real gold dust.[1]

When the wife and I were on Exuma in the Bahamas recently we were on this secluded island with like 8 other people checking out some iguanas. Out of nowhere, Dan Bilzerian's bikini team showed up in a yacht (@ignite_models on Twitter). This pic was taken on that beach. I was like 20 feet away.
I didn't take that picture. I didn't take any pictures.
When they started getting off the boat, the wife's exact quote was, "Oh fucking great..."
