NBA Finals
Nba finals. Who you got?

Re: NBA Finals
I despised the Spurs for years when they were battling (and beating) the Suns regularly, but I always respected them deep down. The run that Duncan and Pop have been on for the past 15 years is freaking impressive.
The Spurs will be the first real test Miami has had. The East is a joke. LeBron gets a cakewalk to the Finals every year compared to the gauntlet the Western teams have to go thru. I'll definitely be rooting for the Spurs over the Heat and I think this series is destined to go 7 games. Spurs in 7.

Good first half. The Heat didn't look themselves on D.

And then there were cramps.

Well, that's one way to beat Lebron.

The Spurs should never turn up the cooler. LeBron can't take the Heat... to victory.

Re: NBA Finals
Seriously. Go ahead and fix it, but at the start of the fourth quarter in a must-win or the series-deciding game, let it fail again. Call it home court advantage.Catintheheat wrote:The Spurs should never turn up the cooler. LeBron can't take the Heat... to victory.
Re: NBA Finals
I can only assume the temp for game two will also be 90 degrees.Catintheheat wrote:The Spurs should never turn up the cooler. LeBron can't take the Heat... to victory.
Or at least it sure as hell would be if I was running the Spurs.
Re: NBA Finals
Interesting article on cramping:
Basically says that Lebron cramped because he is big for his size and goes really hard when he plays. His size causes him to have a hard time dissipating heat.Deadspin @Deadspin
Everything you were told about cramps is probably wrong. And Gatorade is full of shit http://deadsp.in/2YaV5Kv

LeBron bounces back with a dominating game 2. 35 and 10. Now the series gets interesting.

Re: NBA Finals
I was watching the game at my brother in laws house, and when Parker received the flagrant foul, then missed the 2 FTs, then Duncan missed the 2 FTs on the same possession, then the Heat went down and scored I knew the game was over. You can't miss 4 straight FTs then expect to win.
Diaw sure looked foolish trying to cover LeBron.

Re: NBA Finals
Somehow, Diaw's pleasantly plump self actually was half decent vs LeBron last year.
Re: NBA Finals
Tonight's game is going to be awesome - I think I saw a stat where something like the series is decided over 80% of the time whoever wins Game 3 (assuming the series is tied.) Tonight's game is huge!
Re: NBA Finals
Spurs with 41 in the first quarter.
Re: NBA Finals
if he doesn't win any more then it still goes to MJ. if he even wins 1 or 2 more i'd definitely consider putting him ahead of mj. he is bigger, stronger, faster, a better rebounder, a better passer than mj and can guard all 5 positions. for me, he doesn't have to win 6+ titles to pass mj. just like 3 or 4.Spaceman Spiff wrote:Depends on the # of rings. i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

The Heat back in it at the start of the 4th. I knew the Spurs were shooting at an unsustainable rate.

This is your friendly reminder that Mario Chalmers is the BEST player to come out of Kansas since Paul Pierce.

You just aren't going to overcome that. I thought the Heat did about as good a job as you can in trying to come back, but it wasn't gonna happen.84Cat wrote:The Spurs are 19-21 from the field.

Torii Hunter on LeBron:
“You know, I’ve been there before; that’s something that I do know —especially playing football in high school. After a football game you’re on the bus and you catch a cramp and you can’t move. But I can tell you this…I made love to my wife the other night and I caught a cramp in my hamstring and I actually put my leg out and kept performing — there’s no excuse.”

Re: NBA Finals
Wade was goo throughout the playoffs, but too many games against high level competition without multiple days off show just how weak his knees are.

Re: NBA Finals
To a point. System helps. Elite passing teams in recent years made a lot of players look better than they were. Spurs get big contributions from three waived players in Green, Diaw, Mills. Celtics got big contributions from Bass, Posey, House. Two great passing teams who didn't win in Suns and Kings got big contributions from Tim Thomas, Raja Bell (both waived by teams) and, aforementioned House and James Jones, and Jackson, Pollard, Christie (journeyman role players).Spaceman Spiff wrote:You need a lot more good, smart players. They all had HOFers passing them the ball in Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, Garnett, Pierce, Allen, Nash, Marion, Webber. But a good systems identifies useable elements and tailors to skills.
But, yes, as a whole, a significant culture shift will be needed fat a junior high/high school level. Better passing, better fundamentals, more structure.
