I actually think one of these two teams will win the game by 10+, I just have no clue who it's going to be although I think it's much closer to coin flip between the two as to who wins by 10+, which is why blue horseshoe loves money line.Gladiator Cat wrote:Yeah guys, I expect the winner to do it on a FG. One more loss and UCLA is done. Their backed into a corner and will respond accordingly.

Re: THE THE UCLA Bruins Discussion & Predictions Thread Thre
I think we've had this exchange before, but so was I...Lewis ran right toward us in that corner of the Rose Bowl. I seem to recall their QB...Tommy Maddox?...then heaving up a Hail Mary at the final gun that was caught but nullified for illegal man downfield or some such lucky break. Was also there the following year for the 50-something to very little beatdown. Then there was Dan White getting hurt and J.J. Stokes torching Desert Swarm. Smoking us after the Leap By The Lake but then falling flat in the Hurricane Bowl, relegating us to the Holiday Bowl. More recently, 66-10 two years ago. So forth and so on...Sure, we were as much a thorn for them with Tui and Foles but the balance sheet still seems way out of whack. Would love to just walk in there and hand them their asses but obviously know better.gumby wrote:Only one way to blow up this mindset, which I'm afflicted with after 30+ years.PieceOfMeat wrote:I have this nagging suspicion that I'll have to bump my "Every. Damn. Time." thread after the UCLA game.
On the plus side, I was there for the game Daryll Lewis won with a Pick 6.
You're exactly right. Win when it finally matters. USC redux this week...attrition elsewhere means we have another shot to prove we belong and aren't just "OK." I think I will be happier if we beat UCLA than I was when we beat Oregon a few weeks ago. That's saying something.

I hear ya Pop. The difference between being a mediocre-to-poor team and rising up to beat a great team unexpectedly, and being a good-to-great team and going into another good team's stadium and coming out with an expected and solid win is night and day. I want Arizona to be a team that wins these kinds of games like the one we are facing Saturday. When we get there I will know this program has truly turned the corner.Pop McKale wrote:I think I will be happier if we beat UCLA than I was when we beat Oregon a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I don't think we are there just quite yet... But I'd love to be proven wrong.

I expect the team to wear white helmet (already chosen), white, red [already wore white & blue pants] add to that UCLA wearing fancy new special unis - eerily similar to 2012 66-10 debacle
What does this mean? Absolutely nothing but I still think UCLA wins. Arizona as a program still hasn't turned the corner - until they do I'll expect a choke job like they did vs USC (despite the failed comeback).

The LA Steel unis aren't new. They broke those out last season.
As for RR and him saying the 2012 game has been bugging him ever since, I believe it. He sure as hell didn't forget the 2012 thumping in Autzen.

Pac-12 Week 10 predictions

http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id ... redictions
Why Arizona will win: Scooby Wright III and his gang of Wildcats are going to be too much for the UCLA offensive line. Anu Solomon, Nick Wilson and Austin Hill will all have big games for Arizona. Time to start making some sense out of the South. -- Chantel Jennings
Why UCLA will win: This feels a lot like 2012 -- a surging Arizona team coming to the Rose Bowl vs. a UCLA team that had had a couple of bad games. And we all remember what happened there (UCLA won 66-10). Different year, different players. I get all that. But last week was a wake-up call for the Bruins. This game is put-up or shut-up for them. -- Kevin Gemmell

We should put Scooby on both sides of the ball.

From Berk during his QA just now.
http://live.azstarnet.com/Event/QA_on_U ... iel_Berk_4FYI everyone, we just got the injury report. Jarvis McCall and Tra'Mayne Bondurant are both questionable. McCall with a shoulder, Bondurant with a knee. DeAndre' Miller is out. I think we'll see Bondurant, but not McCall.
Re: THE THE UCLA Bruins Discussion & Predictions Thread Thre
I've been concerned about the Bondurant injury. We are just a different defense when he is on the field.

Re: THE THE UCLA Bruins Discussion & Predictions Thread Thre
Arizona (6-1) at UCLA (6-2) Nov. 1, 10:30, ESPN
Here's The Deal: It’s a battle of ranked Pac-12 teams, with major South Division implications at stake in the Rose Bowl. UCLA has been a massive underachiever in 2014, typified by last week’s need for double-overtime to defeat 2-6 Colorado. If the Bruins have any designs of rebounding and remaining in the divisional hunt, holding serve at home this week is an absolute must. Doing so will require beating an upstart Arizona squad that’s been the surprise of the league so far in 2014. The Wildcats have only one loss, a two-pointer to USC, and they’ve already beaten No. 5 Oregon in Eugene. Longshot though it might be, ‘Zona has to be considered a playoff contender for as long as it remains a one-loss team.
Why Arizona Might Win: The offense is getting into gear, which is going to be a problem for the erratic UCLA D. The Bruins have individual talent. Lots of it. They also have problems, both schematically and in fundamentals. Basically, UCLA is soft and poorly prepared. Enter Rich Rodriguez, whose versatile attack will challenge the Bruins with the running of Terris Jones-Grigsby and the passing of Anu Solomon to Cayleb Jones and Anu Solomon. Arizona is bringing a lot of playmakers and precision to the Rose Bowl for UCLA to attempt to contain.
Why UCLA Might Win: As much as Arizona has surprised this fall, its defense has remained predictably unpredictable. The ‘Cats have been especially vulnerable to the pass, yielding more than 300 yards per game. That’s good news for QB Brett Hundley as well as his favorite targets, Jordan Payton and Devin Fuller. UCLA is also properly balanced, thanks to this year’s emergence of Paul Perkins, who’s rushed for 996 yards and five touchdowns. For all of its issues, UCLA has thrived in tight spaces, going 5-1 in games decided by eight points or less.
Who To Watch Out For: The gang at the Butkus Award ought to be paying close attention late Saturday night, because the linebackers will be everywhere. Looking to stop Jones-Grigsby will be the dynamic duo of Eric Kendricks and Myles Jack. Arizona will counter with Scooby Wright, who’s authoring an outstanding season in Tucson. Testament to his versatility, he shifted from middle linebacker to rush end versus pass-happy Wazzu last week, notching three sacks and three forced fumbles in an epic performance.
What’s Going To Happen: Sleep late on Saturday. Load up on dark roast. Do whatever is necessary to witness all four quarters of this duel between the Bruins and Wildcats. Bank on lots of points and momentum swings, with the outcome in doubt in the final minutes. UCLA is going to survive a shootout on the strength of its more experienced quarterback, home-field edge and urgency to remain viable in the Pac-12 South race.
Prediction: UCLA 45 … Arizona 38
Line: UCLA -6.5 o/u: 70.5
Must Watch Factor: 5: Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown – 1: Mike Tyson Mysteries … 4

"Basically, UCLA is soft and poorly prepared."
How many years have Arizona fans heard those words in pregame scouting reports when Arizona had the better record.
Then the Bruins would wake up, end the dream and back their way into whatever bowl they felt like making the rest of the year.
Tired of having Arizona football's ceiling being determined by Los Angeles. Cats need to make the statement of the RichRod era Saturday.
