Santiago Chile, Jan 19th, downtown artisan market from a Spanish speaking dad of a son in the graduate (PhD) geology program at the UofA!

He was wearing a blue hat with a block A! Me, red hat with Block A!

Him: air-ree-Zona?
Me: si, Arizona. Cognoses? (Do you know?)

And he told me about his son. His wife taught my daughter how to fan herself with her flamenco type fan while we were taking.

So cool.

Not so much a global Bear Down, but I was wearing an Arizona hat at the grocery store on Saturday before the "#9 Nick Sunshine Foles MVP Super Bowl LII" and some random dude looked at me and said, "Go Eagles!" Made me laugh. Loved that the guy made the connection.

Smoking hot 25 yo flight attendant saw my red hat on the first leg of my Alaska flight and said Bear Down! Get Oregon tonight!

She clearly hadn’t heard any of the news yet and I didn’t tell her.

It was nice for the world to feel normal for a few moments.

Monday I was at a display during a CubeSat convention at the campus I work at with a friend, and someone was yelling "Bear down! Bear down!" at me since I was wearing a UA hoodie like I normally do. I walked over to them and said they are a Tucson startup called Vector Launch. This is actually a real rocket that can launch the CubeSats into orbit or whatever they do from any spot that is road accessible.

I've been in the Washington DC area for a week. Been wearing an Arizona hat. Almost every day I've seen other people in Arizona gear and gotten several, "Go Cats!" from random people. Even saw a gal wearing U of A gear in downtown Alexandria a couple of nights ago. Was on the street over by the White House and had a carload of guys yell, "Bear Down" at me.

Better yet, I've only seen one douche bag with any ASU gear all week.

A few weeks ago my tent mate for my MT Shasta attempt was an asu fan from Phoenix.

But there is no place for rivalry and hatred when your getting your ass handed to you on a mountain. Lol

I always rock my block A red hat outdoors or block A beanie. Easy to find me if something happens.

They build those in an old warehouse next to Barrio B rewing Company. It's neat to see when they roll one out to take it somewhere.

Forgot about another one this week in DC. Wife and I sitting on the metro subway. Train stops at the Pentagon and an army guy gets on. His gear bag had a block A tag on it. I gave him a bear down and he notices my hat. He was from Tucson. He had mixed feelings about Rich Rod, but has high hopes for Sumlin. We had a real good chat before he gave me a bear down as he got off the train. Former cop from Tucson. Nice guy.

LYFT driver in Honolulu when I was there went to the UA, graduated in Marketing. Nice lady. Talked about all the old restaurants and such.

She said she used to get a "sorority sandwich" from some place, and she still makes them. Bean sprouts and some other things.

I got one on the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris last week. We chatted for a while and ran into each other on the way down and talked U of A football walking down from the observation deck.

We ran into each other at the Jimmy Buffett show later that night. He claimed, “You guys are AZ fans, I’m not surprised to see you here!”

I was alone the next day strolling around the Louvre and ran into him again. Small world.

The submarine SS Tucson came into port. He was able to get this from one of the sailors.

I get so fired up to give out a bear down when I see someone wearing gear and I’m not. The look of surprise followed by acknowledgement and good cheer and a few minutes of friendly banter is one of life’s special moments for me.

Every day I walk across the Mall while "Bear Down" blasts from above at noon, with everyone in all directions wearing the gear, including me. I should totally start saying Bear Down to every block-A-wearing person I see, and note the look of surprise and delight you're all promising I'll get in return.

I threw a “Bear Down” at Gronk today.

He responded with, “Oh yeah! Bear Down! Bear all the way down” and flexed.

No, I’m not shitting you. He was at this conference I’m at promoting Monster’s new energy drink Reign and I caught him between people in line to get photos with him.

Might be the best Bear Down I’ve ever received.

Some guy is wearing a red ball cap with the UA block "A" at the Australian Open tennis right now.

Spotted in the Kyrgios/Simon match in at 4-4 in the 4th set when Kyrgios pulls to 40-40 on Simon's serve.

Just thought you'd like to know.

I went to a Mexican professional baseball game in Mexicali last night. Great game.

There are quite a few Americans playing in the league.

After the game we were eating tacos in a place across the street from the stadium when the Mexicali team came in to eat. One of the players had an Arizona baseball T shirt on. I gave him a Bear Down and he responded back.

Chatted with him a bit and he left the U of A in 2012. Didn't catch his name but he made a clutch hit to help the home team to a win.

These games are alot of fun. The stadium is very large and great. Two ice cold Tecates poured into a cup costs about 5 bucks.
