It almost smells like early spring in the Verde Valley. Manzanita is blooming, Rosemary and Pansies too.

This is my daughter's high school chemistry teacher (and colleague for the last 4 months) getting the PAC-12 Teacher of the Year Award, presented by Adia Barnes:

Re: The Good News Thread
Just wanted to post that this has been probably the best weeks of the last year for me
-After not hardly working much this last year due to the Pandemic, my work is finally starting to come back. I'm working this week, next week and several other jobs are starting to get booked.
- My oldest son and I both got vaccinated. My son has been especially pessimistic of things returning to "normal" and he's been in a much better mental state since. It's a relief to see him smile.
- Had the most social weekend in over a year this past weekend, hanging out with several friends who have all been vaccinated.
- Finalizing actual summer vacation plans!
- And the Cat's just made the Final 4!
Here's to more weeks like this!

Re: The Good News Thread
Good stuff. Glad to hear about the job front!
I was able to see my friend up in PHX last weekend and got a bunch of baby stuff at IKEA too. Almost felt like a normal weekend. It feels like I'm on the verge of living a "regular" life again. 38 days till I'm totally vaccinated. I can't wait to have a meal sitting in a restaurant again (before 7 pm of course now that I'll have a baby!).

Nice. Would be cool for one day the Santa Cruz and San Pedro Rivers in southern AZ to be flowing year round again like they used to and bring back the otters and fish and beavers that used to be in them.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: The Good News Thread
Wasn't Tucson going to use CAP water to try and bring them back at one time? Then finish downtown with a riverwalk with cafes before replenishing the aquifer?

We have baby birds newly born on our terrace. My wife is giddy, giddy as the mother House Finch herself. It's the little things.

Re: The Good News Thread
Our experience with doves is a mixed bag. We had them at both our Tucson houses and it seemed always that they came to a sad demise either through predation from woodpeckers or just general empty-headed negligence by the parents.84Cat wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 4:23 pmLove the baby birds. Re: The Good News Thread
Me and 3 old college buddies are heading to Tucson for homecoming this year.
We haven’t all been together in one place in probably 35 years. Rented a nice house in the foothills so doing this in style.
Really excited about this reunion.

My kids got me to buy them new Fortnite skins by telling me it was to raise money for Ukraine. I thought they were conning me but gave them the money anyway because I appreciated their cleverness.

Living these impatient and flighty times, longevity is a very underappreciated virtue.
