Beef with broccoli over sticky rice bowls.
I reinvented this American Chinese classic by parboiling and icing the broccoli and then flash cooking it the pan with skirt steak with a little sugar and soy sauce and garlic. Even the kid asks for seconds, as long as there's no broccoli in hers.
Oh, and I'm drunk.

Sounds amazing. Of course as soon as I decided I wanted to stock up and cook more with heirloom beans and ancient grains this shit happens and they're out of stock everywhere. I'd love some kind of warm grain salad with some nutty cheese and a lot of acid and fresh herbs now.

Wife made a quick and amazing meal that rivaled anything from a decent restaurant tonight with just what we had in the fridge and freezer before the next grocery trip. Trader Joe's chicken gyoza soup made with some super gelatinous chicken stock I made a few weeks back, some bok choy, mushrooms, chili oil, light soy and chiangking vinegar. It was so good. I also needed a 250 calorie filling meal featuring mostly veggies and a light broth in my system.

Anybody else here would tell you how the chili was handmade. But in my case, just some beanless variety plucked off the Safeway shelf. I didn’t hate it.

I’m going to get myself a Steak and cook the fuck out of it in the kitchen at like 930 at night.
Might ever broil some asparagus with garlic and oil.

I love my wife and she tries, but if I could go back at tell my 27yo self that good cooking is as important as a trim body with a decent bust...I would. Not that it would’ve changed much, lol but still.

Haha, I don’t know?! It’s just comfort food I guess. And fast and easy to prepare, which despite my love for great food is the single-most important factor in deciding on meals.
Generally speaking I’m not a fan of hot dogs. But put enough chili and cheese and condiments on one and they are transformed. You might logically ask, why not just have the chili and the the cheese and the condiments sans the dog? But that’s because you are smarter than me.

There's that place called Pat's on the west side, right? I've never been there but I marked it in my brain because the place itself looks amazing when I drive past it. Also, I think I know why I've never had a chili dog. I think it was a go-to in 1980s antacid commercials, followed by a man who looked like he could be your dad, who frowns and hits his chest with his fist. I think that made an impression on me.

There was a month when I was single and living in Rome and making only three things until I perfected them: cacio e pepe, amatriciana, and carbonara. I never even made it to alla gricia, which I should have tackled before alla carbonara. Here, I've adapted to 1) parmigiano regiano instead of pecorino because something about pecorino just doesn't travel, and 2) in amatriciana I use crushed chiltepins instead of "red chili flakes" because they're amazing, but only 3 for a full sugo. And always finish cooking the bucatini in the sugo so the flavor and spiciness cooks into the noodles.
