I wish I could eat that for lunch today.

Last night was rice, miso soup, and an omelette made with soy sauce, miso, and dashi. Critics raved.

Frankie's. I wanted an Italian hoagie. I used to eat there all the time but this will be my first time back in 30 years.

I Love their Cheesesteak with wiz south Philly style (with sautéed broccoli rabe). Frankies also has a surprisingly delicious sautéed veggie sandwich.

Highly recommend the family feast pack from Sher E Punjab. For about $60 you get:

whole tandoori chicken, an entree each of lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, veggie biryani, 4 veggie samosas, pappadom, raita, tamarind, and chile sauce, and a pile of naan.

Boy did I ever fuck up dinner tonight. I had this idea that, somehow, I could crisp and braise a whole head-to-tail sea bream in a 12" cast iron pan. You know, with a little agility. The whole thing came apart and I had to serve it in a shallow bowl with the braising sauce. Nobody wants to eat bony pieces of fish from a bowl.

My wife is an amazing cook. Her food looks and smells almost as good as it tastes. A true chef. I can count the number of meals she's messed up on one hand.

That being said, she once tried the same thing with Red Snapper. We ended up calling it "Pile o' Fish".

I was getting a couple of tires put on at Discount Tire and Hooters was the only place in walking distance that had dine in. Everywhere else was carry out only.

Don't make me pull out your post where you lost your pants in a trough urinal accident and then tried to hit on that woman in the convenience store while covering your groin area with a stadium towel that Dick Vitale actually looked at with his good eye.

Chicken lo mein. It was amazing. My wife ate it in complete silence with a matter-of-fact look on her face. So maybe it wasn't amazing. More witnesses would be needed.

I took two pork loins and seasoned them with two different spice mixtures to do a little taste test, but then seared and roasted them in the exact same dutch oven, basting them in each other's juices, and they both came out tasting the exact goddamn same.

Delicious, yet disappointing.

Made a skirt steak and snap pea stir fry courtesy of Kenji. He has damn good stir fry recipes. Always very simple but if you keep a few stock pantry items your stir fry game will be on point.

Dark soy sauce
Shaoxing wine
Sesame oil
Oyster sauce
Garlic
Ginger
Scallions

Tonight I'm making Moo Shu Pork. I think we have some leftover pork dumplings so may serve those as well.

Tomorrow I have no fucking clue.

I did Kenji’s Cast Iron Pizza last night. I stretched dough made for a 10” pizza into 12” and it was perfect. Nice fluffy dough, but not too much. Kinda like a Pizza al Talgio in Rome. 1/2 Boars Head Pepp and 1/2 Italian Sausage with Board Head mozz from the deli.

It’s no knead, so mix it, let it rise twice and stretch. Super easy.
