100%. They came to Arizona to play for championships and under Sean Miller. Booby Bobbins just stole both from them.

Go out there and kick ass with your new teams. Hopefully you won’t be sandbagged by an egomaniac with a lofty title.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Frankly, I hope some of them transfer to schools that face Arizona and ram it directly down Robbins's throat next year.

Mathurin, Tubelis, etc are future pros. I hope they kill it elsewhere.

Same here. I also hold a grudge. I hope they all make a F4 and same with Sean before we do. They deserve it. Robbins and his goons do not.

With ABOR meeting next Thursday, I'd assume that a new coach will be selected by then. There's even a slot in their meeting alloted as "secret", so I'd assume that is for an approval of said contact. I'd expect a name by the end of the week maybe beginning of next week. Final negotiations taking place throughout the beginning of the week, and ABOR approves next Thursday. I'm under the impression it'll probably be Stoudamire or Lloyd

I love Damon the player, hell he is one of the main reasons I came to Arizona, but that would be an absolute awful choice. Damon was an assistant here and Memphis and in that time recruited a total of 1 player. He has been at Pacific for 5 years and has a below .500 record. If we fired Miller for a sub .500 coach who has no interest in recruiting and a bad record in a weak conference that would be a travesty.

This is one of the rare situations where I encourage each and every player to leave. Save yourselves, don't play for a program that treats you like shit.

So our choices are a career .000 win % or a career .480 win %?

This is a clown show joke of an administration.

Whoever is our next coach is not going to be our long term answer... it’s the following coach

Am I the only 1 that thinks our best move to to hire Murph and try to keep staff and team together?

I wonder if Damon would consider being an assistant to Murph?

After all, he is now in freakin' Stockton. What a shithole town.

Just from what I'm hearing from people and what I'm reading say that. Don't take it all that serious tho. When does Robbins ever do what everyone expects him to do. He's going to probably pull some NBA assistant out of his ass that he met in 2002 in a strip club and that'll be the hire. Robbins is an idiot and is going more and more senile by the day

Not sure why Ayayi would transfer, but playing the sunny side fan, if we get Lloyd he may be able to keep out international heavy core together (Azoulas, Benn, Kerr, Koloko)

I agree with AL that I don't think whoever we hire will be our long term answer.

It's the reason I'm kind of hoping we don't hire a damon or a miles or some other beloved alum.

Makes it's really difficult if the administration decides to go a different way or we suck for too long, now you've alienated a hero.

However, another way you might keep this group of kids together is to hire Damon tomorrow, fly him in and pray he can convince these kids not to enter the transfer vortex.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Not trying to jinx it, but I am absolutely amazed that we have not had anyone enter the transfer portal in the last 24 hours. Hopefully if it is Lloyd he is able to come in soon and get our core to buy in.

The European kids all know Lloyd. He's pretty respected over in Europe. That's probably who the kids all want. He would probably run a very European/pro-style offense, which is something they'd be familiar with. I bet if we got Lloyd a lot of them would stay, don't take my word for it tho. I don't have that knowledge, just me thinking

First impact, KJ Simpson has been released from his schollie. Wasn't expected to contribute much if we were to return our core anyway, but this could be the start of the roster dismantling.

If I’m a player I have to consider that Robbins took away the opportunity to play in tournament. He did it in the middle of the season. So no player could decide if they wanted to waste a year.
Now he has taken the coach so we will probably be wasting another season. Different schemes and such.
I don’t see how any player or coach would want to work for someone like Robbins.

If he was going to fire CSM, then he should have self sanctioned this upcoming year and get it done during a transition year that will more than likely be a down season. Give the kids a choice whether they want to be punished for crap they had nothing to do with.

I’m have to think that CSM had assured them that any NCAA punishments would not happen during this most recent season.

Bruin Report has an article about our decommit but that is not the Arizona player they really want or have been in contact with.

"Simpson is an athletic combo guard who has continued to develop his point guard skills. He's a plus athlete, both laterally and vertically. With the ball in his hand, he can create for himself with a very solid handle, but also has the vision and passing ability to create for others. He has a good-looking jumper that has continued to improve in consistency. He's a great defender, with physical toughness and exceptional lateral quickness which enables him to defend both the one and the two at the next level. He's particularly adept at getting steals, having good anticipation for passing lanes and quick hands. He's gotten bigger and broader-shouldered in the last year or so, which is a sign he can put on muscle needed to be effective in college.

He's currently ranked as the No. 88th overall prospect by 247Sports but we feel that's a little under-rated.

Simpson has some things going for him that would make him a good fit for Cronin and his UCLA program. He has the type of toughness both physically and mentally that has become Cronin's staple at UCLA. He projects as a 3-4 year player and a multi-year starter at point guard.

Simpson, no matter what program he commits to, will sign a Grant-in-Aid rather than an NLI. The GIA only binds the school and not the player until he actually enrolls."

I can deal with losing a guy who hasn’t even suited up for us yet. Way harder, imo, to lose a second year guy expected to be a key contributor next year.

Hey why don't we conduct a fake coaching search to extend the time the players are in limbo? Personally I think if a coach is not named Monday/Tuesday (contract must be in place by Wed for ABOR on Thursday) or if it is Damon something went horribly wrong. Whoever it is just has to delay a bit and they will get whatever they want as our amateur Athletic Department panics.

Maybe, but the circumstances at AZ are currently unusual. We’re not going to get our full recruiting mojo back until the scandal is truly behind us, which may not be for a few years. It makes our *current* roster that much more valuable, and losing players that much more costly.

When Kentucky fired Gillespie and hired Calipari, they were landing top recruits almost immediately. Won’t be that way with our next hire.

I am not so sure of that. It depends on who the head coach is. The facilities at UA are great. UA has the transportation the coaches need to see recruits. The Cats won't be down long. The first step is to recruit a new president and AD.

"Search groups" do more than find you candidates, they also do due diligence to ensure you don't end up with someone like Les Miles. Also, it has been said the search group has been working for us since January, though I am not sure the accuracy of that.

Isn't that always the case though?

I know Miller was getting transportation via a booster private plane for like 40 hours a year. Don't just assume that is still there. I'm sure the admin would give him that perk but it may come with a cost. I assume we have lost at least the booster that put the retainment policy in place for Sean. Not sure he was the one with the jet.
