Correct. Akinjo and Kerr are in the portal and Simpson decommitted.
Any chance of Simpson recommiting? Or has that ship sailed?
He's supposed to be a UCLA lean, but that's just internet stuff. I'd rely more on the insiders. He also had Cal, Colorado and SC there at the end, so he has plenty of Pac options.

UCLA appears to currently be one over the scholarship limit, assuming Johnny returns - at par if he elects for the draft (which he ought to).

Simpson hasn’t decommitted. He’s met with Lloyd on Friday and Scheer says he is still likely to ask out of his LOI, but for now he’s still signed.

Juzang should go pro. He's likely a first round pick. The way he just played in the tourney might have just gotten him the highest draft stock he can possibly have. He should go. Not saying that as a homer, but he likely isn't going to have higher draft stock and is a first round pick. He's a good kid and deserves to make some cash

who's Juzang? who are you talking about, I don't see him on any Arizona Roster, plus Arizona wasn't in the Tourney, they were Self Banned! ;)

That weakens their prospects considerably for next season if he leaves. He made just about every big shot they needed in the tourney. Still a lot of other good players on that roster, but Juzang was their killer. They're much more vulnerable if he's gone.

Feels like Simpson would have a better shot at minutes with us than some of those other schools, with all of our guards leaving.

So we have no pg other than maybe Kerr. Are we chasing any good pgs at the moment?

Might be a Kadeem Allen situation where a combo/2G is forced to play point.

Perfect situation for Tyty. Both Kansas and Kentucky have PGs coming in.

Transfers Marcus Carr (if he returns) and Adam Miller should be at the top of our priority list along with TyTy.

Well, he got released 9 min after you posted... :D

I wouldn't have any issue, given that Arizona controls the formal release. If he wants out, I can understand why he wouldn't want to wait for whenever Arizona approves him.

Zaga didn't even offer Miller to my knowledge. If Sean Miller was still here, I'd think we were in good shape, but zero idea if Lloyd has any connection.

Ain't too many TJ's in basketball at any level.

I remember when people thought he was a poor man's Aaron Craft. Now he's a 5 year NBA vet who repeatedly has demonstrated he's one of the more underrated guys in the league.
A girl can hope.

Tyty fit better for Lloyd? I haven’t had a chance to watch him or really watch Lloyds system.
Yes, Kerr too.

Not trying to shit on Akinjo, but he would need to adjust his game more to play in this system, plus next to Kerr (in a more prominent role for Kerr) than Tyty. Not saying there wont be issues with Tyty, but hes more well rounded, and fluid, of a player to easily make the right reads, defend, pass, shoot, attack.

Think of it this way... Akinjo is more in the Trier mold, which was a requirement for a lead ball handler/primary scorer in Miller's system. Obviously, anyone would like to have a guy like Trier or even Akinjo, but that type of ball dominance isnt required inside a more spread, open, read based offense. Akinjo and Trier were necessary tools required by the Miller offense. Guys like Tyty and Kerr are multipliers in this new system because of their versatility and fluidity on and off the ball.

All three are 5's that need to be 5's. Especially Ballo and Koloko aren't playing anything but the 5.

Honestly, I think Koloko is better than Ballo, but it's just tough to see the 3 having minutes to share. Still a lot to figure out.

Sorta feel like there's a criticism to be made of Miller here. Ayton and Ristic were both very good college players. That team should've been better, imo.

That team was really good, it's just that buffalo was underseeded and played a really good game. When we drew them I was nervous. Massinburg was a star and he did whatever he wanted and we had no answer!! Oats is a great coach.

That is how I have chosen to deal with that one.
Just like, say, losing to floppy haired steve nash. Cried for days, took years to be able to justify that loss.

Edit:
That matchup made me wonder if the selection committee had it out for us with the fbi/espn garbage. It seemed like that was the team seeded 8 or lower that year that was most likely to give us trouble. Now I look at the bracket and ask myself which games does the committee want to be upsets in the first round.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Bigs get in foul trouble. You can never have enough bigs but I would assume 2 are needed in the rotation. That will be interesting see who is the odd man out/leaving possibly.

More concerned on our guard situation. Hope we hear good news on that soon,

Or not, who knows

I don't think he replaces Koloko. He replaces Batcho as the big man bench project. From the reading it doesn't seem Ballo will be ready this year, best case scenario he gets freshman year Koloko minutes.

Also, Koloko, Ballo and Mathurin all native French speakers

That is how I have chosen to deal with that one.
Just like, say, losing to floppy haired steve nash. Cried for days, took years to be able to justify that loss.

Edit:
That matchup made me wonder if the selection committee had it out for us with the fbi/espn garbage. It seemed like that was the team seeded 8 or lower that year that was most likely to give us trouble. Now I look at the bracket and ask myself which games does the committee want to be upsets in the first round.
every team involved in the FBI thing got hammered by the selection committee, I remember it was very clear at the time that it was intentional

Wishlist for this year’s team:

Tier 1 (solidify 4 starting spots)
Get Kerr back
Keep Benn
Keep Tubelis
Add Tyty

Tier 2
Keep JET
Keep Nowell
Keep Dalen
Keep Koloko
Keep Brown

Tier 3
Add a sharp shooter (if everything above happens...we would need to lose one of: Aiken, Gorener, Dezonie)

Are we sure Koloko is staying? Maybe he has said something and that’s why he went after Ballo?

No, Ballo is taking Batcho's spot regardless of Koloko's decision.

Also, Ballo has 4 years to play.
