2021-2022 Season
The disrespect continues. ESPiN doesn’t have us in their top-25 for the upcoming season. Apparently they must think Aari is our whole team.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

I have never felt so positive after a heart breaking loss.
This run has just been pure joy.

Adia sure has a nice head start for bulletin board material.

Even if we had won the Natty they'd have done the same to us.

Without Ware until sometime in December due to volleyball, hopefully Adia can find a center. Smith should be back, but they need more big bodies.

Reads like Sam isn't coming back but still may. Has a job with Nike lined up or could go overseas.

Love that girl. I get why she would move on. Doubt we would be title contenders next year and she can’t stay for the quality team we will have in two years. Best of luck young lady. Keep in touch with the fans and the program

Get Trinity to come back and maybe a transfer or two, they should be pretty good next year.

Even if Sam is the only one that comes back I still love our chances next year of making a nice run.
Those two games against Stanford are going to be VERY interesting.

Re: 2021-2022 Season
WIsh she had come back, but I can't blame her for moving on with life. She wasn't going to get paid to play in the WNBA, she has her masters, and wants to get on with life and earning a living.
players should be paid out of the billions the ncaa makes

That's fantastic she was awarded her masters. I often wonder how many grad transfers actually get their degree.

Why are women teams allowed 15 scholarships? Is that a title IX thing?
Re: 2021-2022 Season
Yes. It’s a small part of balancing out the number of football scholarships across most schools.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 9:55 am Why are women teams allowed 15 scholarships? Is that a title IX thing?

I have somewhat worried about us losing recruits from being so heavy in the transfer market? I absolutely trust Adia, and I know that as you dramatically improve your talent level, you'll see transfers. But something on my mind.
Re: 2021-2022 Season
Taylor Chavez from Oregon has transferred to the UofA. She has two years of eligibility.

Roster
So here's how I've got it. Other than what would appear to be the starters, the rest is just grouped by position, not necessarily depth chart or how likely to get minutes. I will say I tend to have a bias toward established players rather than assuming unproven transfers or freshmen should be plugged-in over them. The Covid bonus year thing has really gotten me confused on class years, so I wouldn't be surprised if something's off there. It's kind of neat that Lauren Ware wants to play volleyball as well as hoops, but I kind of wish she'd give up volleyball. Just the wear and tear on knees from trying to be a two-sport athlete in this day and age scares me.

Re: Roster
If we have a player who averaged 21 and 10 in the SEC transfer in who wouldn't be our starter, that would be ridiculous talent. However, I would be amazed if Love didn't start in the front court over Ware.TheCatInTheHat wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 12:15 pm So here's how I've got it. It does feel like a bit of a logjam with the bigs, but gotta remember Ware will be playing volleyball and bigs get hurt (or bs foul trouble).

Re: 2021-2022 Season
These gals are exactly what we needed after getting manhandled on the boards most the year. Hope we have all the 3 pt shooters we need. Will be more of a team game next year for us to be successful. Does Baylor reach out for Adia? They can double her new salary.
Re: 2021-2022 Season
If by chance Rogers did commit to the UofA, then we would know Adia would not be looking at the Baylor job.

Re: 2021-2022 Season
The Athletic lists Arizona's incoming class of transfers at #2 (right behind Duke):
2. Arizona Wildcats
How, oh, how will the Wildcats fill the productive shoes of a player like Aari McDonald? Well, we knew it wouldn’t be with a single player (although Sam Thomas’ return for another year certainly helped), but how about with the addition of three transfers who will impact every facet of Arizona’s offensive and defensive game plan.
The group starts with two players who were potential double-doubles every time they stepped on the floor this season: Ariyah Copeland (Alabama) and Koi Love (Vanderbilt). Copeland is a 6-foot-3 forward who will boost the Wildcats on the glass, an area where Arizona was middle of the pack a season ago while Love will be able to shoulder a heavy scoring burden. (She averaged more than 20 points per game in Vandy’s eight games in 2020.) Taylor Chavez (Oregon), an intra-conference transfer, had an up-and-down season in 2020-21 but certainly what Adia Barnes saw in her (and she saw it through three seasons of facing Chavez) was a player who can spread the floor with her 3-point shooting. In 2019-20, Chavez shot 47 percent from beyond the arc. That kind of spacing on the offensive end, as well as a familiarity with Pac-12 opponents, will give both Chavez and Arizona a big boost.
