Nice!
Re: 2021 Season
Nice win. Honestly, why do asu fans think they are a baseball program? They have not won a CWS title since 1981. We are definitely a better baseball program than they are.

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: 2021 Season
I like that but I would throw (literally) UCLA in that group. They can pitch

Re: 2021 Season
In less depressing news, we beat Cal 5-1 last night and Silseth threw another gem. He’s 5-0 now.
Team is off to its best start since 2017. 20-8 on the season and 6-4 in the PAC which puts them in third place currently.

Ranked #3 in the country in RPI before the Cal win Friday...
Re: 2021 Season
Don't look now - baseball is tearing it up. For as much drama as there's been in FB & MBB this year, softball, baseball, and of course WBB are pretty freaking good right now. I gotta say, JJ's had a few detractors on here for some reason but he's been good. The only major UA sport that's been more successful since JJ got here is softball and that's only due to consistency (not a lot of high-bar sports over that period unfortunately). Softball hasn't won a title or been in a championship game since 2007. Baseball had a title in 2012 and runner up in 2016, which came down to the last pitch of the game. Baseball appears to be an upper Pac and nationally relevant program again. Keep in rolling!

Donta’ Williams on fire today.
1. Lead off solo jack to open the game.
2. HR stealing play at the fence.
3. 2 steaks on a double in the 7th.
Bat Cats up 10-5 now in bottom of 7th.

Final score Cats 14 - WSU 8.
We take the rubber game.

Re: 2021 Season
Different. Usually we win the first two and lose the third.
Re: 2021 Season
A game the cats desperately needed. Hit 4 home runs and Dante led off the game with a dinger. Next 6 at home should determine if we are a conference winning caliber team

Resume To Date
The goal is to host a regional at Hi Corbett. Here's where we stand...
Record: 23-11/9-6
Composite Poll Ranking: 17
RPI: 8
The RPI bodes well for us. We have very beatable teams in USC, Utah, and Washington coming in to the Hi-C for 9 of our remaining conference games. The bad news is the two remaining road trips to Oregon St and Stanford.
Conference standings, by loss column, are as follows:
Stanford/Oregon - 4
Oregon St - 5
UCLA/Arizona/USC - 6
California/ASU - 7
Washington - 9
WSU - 10
Utah - 11
We really need to make hay the next two weekends, and get out of the 2 wins/1 loss rut.

Re: 2021 Season
Yep, next 8 home games might tell the tale but I like those tough roadies to improve our RPI should we win those series.
I had heard the cats have already sent in a bid and that those sites would be chosen far before the season ends

Cats sweep the Trojans.
Re: 2021 Season
And UCLA beat Oregon which was really needed. We need to sweep Utah and Washington at home and somehow win 4 of 6 against Furd and Oregon St on the road. That should give us a chance at the conference crown

Re: 2021 Season
Need to sweep the two PAC series at home, and do no worse than split Stanford and Oregon St. Do that, and we should be hosting at the Hi C. Win the Furd and Beaver series, and we have a chance at being a top 8 seed. It's all set up for us.
I like the way the team approaches at bats too. Very patient and smart. I just wish we had a lock-down starting pitcher. We have a lot of good arms, but I'm not sure there is a great one among them. Would love to see one step up and throw a good 7 innings against either Utah and build some momentum. We gave up 15 runs to USC over the weekend. I don't think we can do that against top teams and win the series.

Re: 2021 Season
They’re announcing sites the week of May 10th, right after that Stanford series. There’s a heavy emphasis on COVID testing, etc... and U of A has done really well in that area. But that Stanford series is going to be important for PAC 12 and for the site announcements (assuming we take care of business against Utah and the non-conference games).AzCatFan2 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 1:06 pm Need to sweep the two PAC series at home, and do no worse than split Stanford and Oregon St. Do that, and we should be hosting at the Hi C. Arky, Bullies and the other backwards southern states aren’t going to host this year. More to go around for the west.

So given our #4 seed I assume we would play #13 South Carolina if it went chalk? That would be fun

Re: 2021 Season
Nice comeback win last night. Scored twice in the 8th to win 4-3.
That's now 8 wins in a row and 6 straight conference series wins.
Go for the sweep today.

Re: 2021 Season
Big week prior to the announcements of the regional hosts. GCU beat us the first time and we need to get TJ Nichols going (I s=assume he will itch tomorrow). Then the three game set with Furd for first. They still have three top end team series to play so I like where we are at but if we can get two of the three we should be in great shape

Steamrolled GCU 13-2. That’s 10 in a row.
Hope our bats stay hot this weekend. Big series against the Furd.
