We have two spots left. Maybe Lloyd has a revolutionary all Wing lineup planned.

He has a nice layup package and can finish at the rim. Something no one else on the team really has.

Re: let's talk '21
Not the guy or even the role I was hoping for but it's nice to have another weapon on the team.
Offensively, Kier loves to get downhill and attack the rim off the dribble - he's got a good handle, nice body control, and can finish with a variety of layups. But Kier also showed last season that he can be effective as an off-ball catch-and-shoot three point shooter - taking about half of his shots on assisted three point attempts and knocking down 37% of them.
Can use him as a microwave off the bench or as a floor spacer complimenting some of our more efficient scorers.
Defensively he was top ten in steals in the A10 and again in the SEC with UGA.
Played well to start the season against cupcakes and played somewhat poorly / inefficiently over the SEC conference schedule. Not a lot went right for UGA last season and Kier played the second most minutes on the team - so he's not a guy who is going to be a high impact starter on a P5 team. But he is the kind of player who can annoy the shit out of an opposing team with pesky defense, slippery layups, and catch and shoot threes.
Nice weapon to have. Mature kid with a good head on his shoulders. Depth, and will test the starters with is ability to penetrate and hit outside shots in practice.

Here's a little interview where you can get a feel for him:

Kier turns 23 next week. How old was Kadeem?
Re: let's talk '21
I love the pickup. Kier loves to attack the basket and can make the perimeter shot. He is a good defender with good size (6"4).
Re: let's talk '21
This from georgiadogs.com:
"• Has an extremely close relationship with his grandmother. His mother suffered a heart attack when Justin was seven. She is paralyzed from the neck down and cannot speak; She lives with Justin and his grandmother.
• Justin’s greater-Harrisonburg community is extremely supportive and organized a bus trip up to a George Mason game each season with the Patriots."

Re: let's talk '21
At the age of seven, Kier's mother Keley suffered a heart attack while driving a car, crashed into a tree and is now paralyzed, blind and cannot speak. Kier was in the automobile with her but was not injured, escaping through a window.

His dad played there. Not that weird, he has been unlucky with coaches, maybe he got one that will be around for more than a year.

I mean, if it came down to Louisiana Lafayette vs. Arizona...I'm going with the smaller, entirely irrelevant school who last won a tourney game in '92. No brainer.

Just bought tickets for the MGM main event in Vegas. Hope to see some of you there!!!
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Especially since he is out of coaching now. He was recruiting and basketball operations coordinator under Lute for a time, so he does have experience in a non-recruiting position.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 4:45 pmIs this a similar position to the one Brandon Sanders got for football? I would think he would get a call. If it's a similar position to the one Teddy got for football, I think Jefferson should get a call as well. This position seems right up Geary or Jefferson's alley
I said what I said and I mean it.

I wonder if Jawann McClellan would be interested?

Jefferson is way too busy with his six other jobs. My man is a worker.BeardownZonaZona wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 5:26 pm I would think he would get a call. Re: let's talk '21
Reggie Geary already has a job with the Wildcat Club as a Development Officer, raising funds from alumni. That seems like a bit more fun and high profile than the nuts and bolts of this job which is mostly focused on compliance. See the full responsibilities below:
Duties & Responsibilities
* Work in conjunction with the Compliance Office and CATS Academics on initial eligibility & admissions of all potential student-athletes
* Serve as an Academic liaison to CATS Academics
* Coordinate player community service
* Oversee Alumni Engagement with Arizona Athletics and Men's Basketball Program
Seems somewhat like the job that Dave Miller previously had here the past two seasons, though this new role is entirely focused on compliance while the other included coaching and scouting duties as well.
So yeah: this is a compliance job, not an outreach job, and should go to someone who knows compliance front-to-back.

Re: let's talk '21
What's with these walk on commitments in spring and early summer? I always thought walk ons "walk on". Like, they're these guys in your dorm who you play a pick-up game with, and they say, "You know what? I'm going to the tryout for walk ons this Tuesday." And then the coaches pick two out of the 35 guys who show up.
Do I just have that all wrong?

Believe only scholarship athletes are counted towards the APR.
Re: let's talk '21
Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.

Re: let's talk '21
A very, very good player - modern big, highly skilled and mobile. Could still stand to gain strength and lean into his physicality.
It'd be pretty absurd to pair him with Azoulas in the front court, both gifted with size and fluidity but also so skilled in their passing and scoring. Can play either inside or out. Not sure we'd have the touches for Garcia though - he's going to want to be a #1 scoring option.

Yes, COVID transfer rule (you don't have to sit so long as you haven't transferred before). Same as Balo and Larsson.

Re: let's talk '21
But even then, they are pretty much giving blanket exemptions to even those that have transferred before.
Look at Jordan Brown from Nevada and James Akinjo from Georgetown. Don't think they would have bailed on Arizona if they had to sit out another year.

Do they give exemptions factoring in the depth of knife wound in back of former coach?

Kofi Cockburn in the portal as is Jaden Shakleford, Cedric Russell and Marcus Carr. Wonder if Tommy will make a play on any of them.

Roll the ball out with the current group and toss the two scholarships as a self imposed penalty.
