It’s the purple stripe on the shoulder of the red and blues that was hideous. That and the font wasn’t good.

The blue on the letters was a tad off too. If you see the Blue on the new White Jerseys it is a true Arizona Dark Blue where as the old ones looked more royal blue.

In some ways I'm more excited about the Road Whites. They look really sharp.

I'd hope it sets up for a one off unique jersey each year with more red. I like the idea of a classic base with once a year doing something a little different.

Like the USS Arizona gray/red uniforms. Those were pretty awesome.

For about the last 15 years, the athletic department made noises that inferred the deal with Nike paying for our uniforms meant that their designers got to determine what they looked like, and the university only had marginal input. Either that was never true, and Stoops/RichRod wanted to do anything hoping to appeal to tasteless high school athletes (while Sumlin couldn't care less about anything), or the situation has since changed. In any event, it says the crap Nike came up with in that time was just that...crap. NFL teams' helmets are their symbols, and you also don't often see the Packers wear yellow jerseys, the Bears wear orange, or the Cowboys wear silver. So after 15 years in the wilderness, somebody at UArizona finally understands branding and image, versus trying to market a "new and improved" jersey in a short-term cash-grab.

Nobody's ever going to come out and say "I am the one who caused something to happen that nobody liked", and ultimately the responsibility is always with the AD & President. But I have heard Byrne and Heeke in radio interviews respond to criticisms of our football uniforms with comments about having their hands tied by our deals and maybe doing something about it down the road. Maybe that's just waiting for the latest 3-year refresh period to expire, but that was about 5 of those in a row. As for the "F-You, Nike", even if the approved uniform versions were ultimately self-inflicted poor choices by geniuses in the athletic department, the alleged cutting-edge brilliance of the designs provided by Nike obviously didn't move anybody, since we're now saying "enough!" and just slapping a swoosh logo on a pre-Nike design.

The old white tops got paired with solid blue pants, no stripes and a block A on the left hip. That combo is gone.

I was a fan of that road combo.

Amazing watching the old movies and TV shows, and guys are actually wearing suits on planes and in movie theaters, besides church. Me, I only own one suit which I wore once to my daughter's wedding, and haven't worn long pants since March of 2020.
