Re: Lakers
Looking like a decent shot for a Nash/DAntoni vs Suns Finals. Interesting.

Re: Lakers
Congrats to the Suns. Injuries are part of the game so no excuses. Suns were the better squad.
I will be rooting for them to make the finals.

Re: Lakers
Lakers lost this game in the first quarter. Booker on fire with 3's...47...best player on the court. Box score tells the story. Suns 51% threes, 42 reb, 9 blocks..
Pelinka should be looking at his trades. Playoff Rondo, no bigs.. Dennis the menace not worth 84 mill. Pope and Kuz
folded. AD(ing) what are you doing in the off season to prepare?
Monty coach of the year.

Re: Lakers
This was an easy call. The Lakers we're a broken team this year that never gelled into a complete team. Good luck to the Suns going forward. The Lakers have a lot to think about. Hopefully Rob gets rid of about half this team. Too many players with no heart or the grit needed to battle once the playoffs started.

Re: Lakers
Agree the Lakers must make some changes. I saw a lot of lethargy out on the court. Need to find the right compliments to hopefully a healthy Lebron and AD.

Re: Lakers
Unless Lebron can get younger and AD can stay healthy.... I'm not sure what the Lakers have to build on.
Re: Lakers
Ditto this. Dennis not playoff Rondo. Kuz mia, AD not ready for prime time...84Cat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 7:24 amThis was an easy call. Re: Lakers
Lebron has probably a 2-3 year window. AD is the key. If he can't stay healthy then the Lakers will be in trouble for the next few years.Alieberman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 7:49 am Unless Lebron can get younger and AD can stay healthy.... I'm not sure what the Lakers have to build on.
Still they need to look at their supporting cast but that's what they pay Pelinka to figure out.
There will always be an attraction to play for the Lakers so we will see what this team looks like next year.

Re: Lakers
I honestly don't see the Lakers winning another championship for another year or two. They might not even win more than six championships over the next decade.

Re: Lakers
I would sell the farm for Lillard, not sure how you make it happen but even if it had to include AD I am doing it.

Re: Lakers
Don't sweat it. Embiid will be the perfect piece to build around. I don't know how that will happen, either, but if anything is certain, the Lakers will yet again acquire the most dominant big man of our times, and no team in the league will have an answer.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 9:51 am I would sell the farm for Lillard, not sure how you make it happen but even if it had to include AD I am doing it.

Re: Lakers
Typical Laker drama. It will sort itself out. He also said if they brought Schroder back he would root for him which is not shocking coming from Magic. He does this playing both sides of the coin quite often.
Btw, Schroder is not the only one who failed. Plenty of blame to go around.

Re: Lakers
Lakers are trying to trade for Russell Westbrook.
In my opinion, that’s not a good move, but I get it that they’re trying to maximize the Lebron era while it lasts.

Re: Lakers
I’m not a fan of this. Too many type A players.
Re: Lakers
Yep and Russ can't shoot the 3. Hopefully they aren't done. I want to see Schroeder moved too. I doubt he wants to come off the bench
Re: Lakers
Westbrook to LA interesting. Not sure how it'll work, but Lakers still need shooters, LA has 9 roster spots to fill.
Re: Lakers
Re: Lakers
Are the Lakers a better team by adding Westbrook? Yes, but probably not by as much as yesterday's "hot takes" tout.
Westbrook will be an aggressive shooter but not necessarily the effective shooter they're hoping for; he's barely a more efficient shooter than the Shroder/Caruso tandem.
Westbrook's more important contribution will be providing the Lakers the much needed stability and dependability running the point guard position, something he'll revel in without running out of gas.
Are the Lakers a better team? Yes, but Lebron is aging out of the player that could dominant the floor night after night. Anthony Davis is too permanently banged up to ever play more than 50-60 games/season, to include the playoffs. And there's still too much dead weight across the roster. Dudley, Drummond, and Morris don't fit and don't contribute enough. The Lakers are probably very happy Shroder turned down that big extension last year. And the Lakers shedding Harrell, Pope, and Kuzma yesterday might actually be the better half of deal than gaining Westbrook.
Speaking of Kuzma, is anybody else surprised he's even in the NBA at this point? He was so ineffective down the stretch of this past season I'll be surprised if he's on any team's roster by the end of this next season.

Re: Lakers
Lakers have to have the highest age average in modern history.
The runners up:
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/9 ... a_history/
OLDEST TEAM (tied): 2000-01 Utah Jazz-- average age of 32.0 years old. The oldest player in the rotation was John Stockton (38) while the youngest was Jacque Vaughn (25). Other members included Karl Malone (37), Olden Polynice (36), and John Starks (35). Overall, 8 players over the age of 30 saw the floor that season. Their final record was 53-39, losing in the first round to young Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks.
OLDEST TEAM, pt. 2: 1997-98 Houston Rockets. The oldest player in the regular rotation was Eddie Johnson (38), though Charles Jones (40) also played sparingly throughout the season. Others included Clyde Drexler, Kevin Willis, and Hakeem Olajuwon (all 35) as well as Charles Barkley and Mario Elie (both 34). The youngest players in the rotation were Othella Harrington and Rodrick Rhodes (24). They finished with a 0.500 record and ironically lost to a slightly younger Malone/Stockton duo in the first round.

Caruso is like their 8th best player. It's like being bummed that your local theater threw out the stale popcorn rather than selling it to you for $0.35

Re: Lakers
Defense might not be as good, but scoring and shooting should be better. Caruso a fan favorite, but seems like Lakers didn't want to pay to keep him. Interesting group Pelinka put together...wonder if he's got another target.

Any truth to the rumors that the Lakers are going after Hakeem Olajuwon and Spud Webb?
