We were right there. Seeing UCLA make the play-in makes me wonder if the NCAA respects the Pac enough to put us in, but our metrics suggest we would have been in.
I tend to think the Pac tourney would have decided it.
After seeing the seedings I have serious doubts that we would have made it. If we did we would have been the last team (or 2) in.
UCLA, which swept us during the season, was one of the last teams in as an 11 seed (in a play in game). We would have definitely seeded below them.
Dunno, man. All our #'s say we would have been in. I agree the UCLA thing is an argument against it, but the committee doesn't always use head to head like that.
It always seemed like the committee would rather put in a named team in those 11/12 spots than a Southwest Missouri Regional College; they are there to make money after all. I think they'd be happy enough to embarrass us by slapping a 12 on us and putting us up against a 5 we have little chance of beating.
We still had the tournament, ucla lost their first game to the braves, we win 2 games and get to the final we would have been good. Maybe if we had played UCLA we would have whipped them. Hard to beat a team 3 times in one year.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

I'm with Chicat on this one. Kids come to Arizona because we get to the tournament and Miller puts kids in the league. When you take that away you play differently and it showed in a number of games. I'm convinced that without the postseason ban we have a few more wins and a 4th seed at least in the PAC-12 tourney and solidly in the national tourney.
Just watched UCLA game.
I was pretty sure I was watching Miller coach the game.
Cronin was always yelling instructions. Tiger would wander up court, stop and look at Cronin to get instructions.
Down by a few baskets and they move with no urgency. When they got the lead they ran clock instead of running offense. But somehow, Kyle Fogg made three FTs with no time on clock......well, something like that.
UCLA beat a #1 and will face #1 Honzaga and if they win and Baylor wins they'll have a chance to beat three #1 seeds. As such, I'll be rooting for Gonzaga, Houston and Baylor in that order.

They won’t beat Gonzaga. No one will
I believe Mark Few is the best coach in the country. He teaches fundamentals better than anyone and I believe anyone who chooses Gonzaga to play for is a wise decision.
Nonsense bracket!!
But I clicked on it so, nice job Andy!

UCLA a #1 seed? Heh.
Thats actually one of the few things on that bracket I agree with. They are going to be loaded if Juzang comes back. Without him I would think they end up in the 3-6 seed range.

Of course ESPIN would have us out. F them
They have us out, but they also have us close, which is actually a more optimistic expectation I've seen in other media.
If we're in the mix for a bid in February, I'll be pretty pleased with Tommy in year one.
Happy to be close? What a joke. CTL was hired to elevate this team not lose two recruits and regress. He was handed a tough hand but not near the level of Miller. His style of play and the teams performance will be what wins me over.

I will be disgusted when we are a bubble team, we were a sweet 16 team before the coaching change for performance reasons. Now we are pleased with being a bubble team? Come on now.
Guy was left a great returning core and lost two top transfers (Brown and Akinjo) and two solid recruits. He replaced them with the 97th best transfer (Baker, per ESPN) with the 96th best transfer, a one position transfer who looked awful against 19 year olds and at Gonzaga last year, and one transfer who was the third best backcourt transfer from a bad Georgia team to play a PG where he has not played and when he had more TO's the Assists last year. Honeymoon period is over, its time for results or get lost. The excuses the horrible recruiting strategy the 50's sitcom personality, I am already over all of it. I was never a Miller homer, and wanted to give this guy a chance but we haven't even played a game and I am already at my wits end with this guy.
There's is zero - none at all - reason to take a preseason bracketology seriously.
One of my deepest pet peeves for this sport is the emergence of non-stop / 365 bracketology. It's clicks for ESPN and a justification for Lunardi's paycheck, nothing more.
If we're looking at this is a fun fantasy hypothetical, go for it. If we're taking this seriously: good lord, stop.

All true, YDF. Think it's mainly on the fantasy side at this point. Look at how bonkers the Pac performance ended up being in the tourney this past season. No one predicted that. No one was even close. Oregon State? Seriously?
At this point, I'm just eager to see Tommy on the sideline doing his thing. Really want to see how our guys respond to him during the game, and I want to see what kind of talent we really have.
I think we'll end up being better than many are expecting but probably not quite as good as some here are counting on.
In summary, Palm has us missing the tournament with Oregon State and Washington State making it.
Lunardi also has us missing the tournament with Colorado making it.
That’s some serious disrespect for our hall of fame coach.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

I don't understand looking at this roster and saying "nah"

Wow, did not expect us to be that high. And that Wyoming matchup Wednesday looms large.

I know there will be tickets available and am seriously considering driving to Tucson for the game on Wednesday. I love this Cats team so much and want to be there for support. I'm off work and the drive from Phoenix will be worth it.
Wyoming has won 3 true road games. At Washington, Grand Canyon and at Fullerton.
Hopefully we get a what was one routine packed house and have a great game. Students hopefully pack the zoo
