I hope he recovers…
So I can meet him one day…
And slap the shine off that bald hypocritical head of his.
Get well DukieV! Can’t wait to yell at you in public some day soon.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

You’re crazy. Dude had so little clue what was happening on the court. He sounded like he was reading his notes instead of watching the game.
I met Robbie when he was in high school (he’s from the town I live in) and have been at a few social things that he’s been at over the years and we’ve had the chance to chat. He could not be a nicer person. But he needs work as a color commentator. If he’s at this wedding I’m going to in June I might have to tell him. He was so busy gargling Michigan’s nuts in the first half that I’m not sure he was also watching the game.

Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
You know the drill - they want to keep eyeballs on the game so in the first half they were scraping together comments on how Michigan could get back into the game even when it was obvious that Arizona was the better team.
But as the second half continued to show that Arizona was dominating they had no choice and say Arizona was kicking ass and will be a force the rest of the season.

I dunno if I agree with those opinions, but maybe I’m just glad we didn’t have Fran or other espn-ers on the call

Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
Tim Brando was fantastic today - even in the middle of the Frazier 11-0 run i rewound the tape two or three times to hear the call...on the final pull up three he called it good "Frazier. Feeling it. Oh Ya." before it went in...which was preceded by an "iron unkind" on the Balo miss on the other end.
also didnt hurt that he was gushing Arizona the whole time

I always expect Chris Collinsworth to announce that he’s got a fatal case of CTE.

I liked his insight into Mathurin calling for the five seconds.97cats wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 5:48 pm Tim Brando was fantastic today - even in the middle of the Frazier 11-0 run i rewound the tape two or three times to hear the call...on the final pull up three he called it good "Frazier. Regardless of your opinion on the subject, at no time should Walton be talking about abortion during a basketball game.

Agreed. Not the time or place imo but I blame Robinson for being so stupid to ask what Bill meant by his comment around expanding Title IX.Postmaster wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 9:18 pm Regardless of your opinion on the subject, at no time should Walton be talking about abortion during a basketball game.

Robinson already has kind of big bug eyes so in my mind they positively jumped out of his head when Walton said that and I was cracking up.

Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
Completely agree. Note Bill has not brought this up (in my recollection anyway) when Dave Pasch is around, although Walton has brought up Pasch's right wing leanings. Let's keep it to basketball Bill, along with the world's largest fungi location.Alieberman wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 10:40 amIt really was kind of shocking (which is why I kinda loved it)EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 9:01 amAgreed. Are we almost in 2022 and people are asking Walton to stick to sports?

I don't think anyone is saying that... everyone knows (expects) Bill to go to some interesting places in his broadcast... but there are a couple topics that one would think a sports broadcaster would stay far away from... but Bill is certainly not your typical sports broadcaster!

Cindy Brunson might be the worst play-by-play announcer I’ve ever heard. Made it painful to watch the game.

I have to admit, and I don't usually do this for home games because love hearing the crowd, that I had the game on moot a lot of the time.

It was a bad combo, and I don’t say that because she’s a woman. I usually like their outside perspective, as they don’t normally do Arizona games. They were both unbearable.

They both seemed half asleep. I ended up muting them too. It was just a bad broadcast.

She was putrid.

She said it like 6 times. Was driving me insane.
And Corey, god bless him, has always been terrible

She lost me when she said the fans were waiting for the Cats to score so they could sit down about 3 minutes in. Corey had to correct her.

Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
Talking about how it was a two possession game with three minutes left in the first half was pretty funny. I mean, there were only like forty five more possessions to go before the final whistle so that was definitely vital information.

Corey lost me when he was dumbfounded that the Arizona reserves were shooting the ball with 1:30 left. Are they just supposed to take shot clock violations? Corey has always been brutally bad, and he said he would be announcing the Stanford game next week.

Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
My favorite was with the last possession of the 1st half she asked Corey what he thinks Colorado should do with this last possession of the half.... after Simpson had literally scored the last 20 straight points for Rado....

Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
Corey also said something boneheaded about “that’s what Colorado has to do” right after they jacked up a bad off-balance shot with 20 seconds left on the shot clock that clanged off the rim.

When she called Dalen Terry "Jason Terry", well, at least she got the team right.
Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
According to Scheer Corey did color on the Stanford game from home then went to McKale Center for the Cat's game. That's a long day for a broadcaster.

Re: Best/Worst analysts/commentators/announcers
Just watched the DVR replay (with a lot of FF.) Have to agree with the takes on this thread on Cindy B. While watching the replay (and prior to reading this thread), she was bad enough that I had to look up her profile on my phone. I have no problem accepting female sports announcers, but they have to be good, they can't be too breathlessly happy to be there, and they can't rattle off too many contrived and hokey catch-phrases that they've dreamed up for themselves. To be fair, there are very few male announcers I like, either. As for muting the game, I've found a sweet spot in volume where the announcers' voices are a drone you can tune-out without really hearing them, but when something big happens and the crowd roars, you can hear that just fine.EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 5:46 am I have to admit, and I don't usually do this for home games because love hearing the crowd, that I had the game on moot a lot of the time.

Why does that matter? She sucked big time so her review hasn’t changed.
Go fucking practice in the minors if she’s not ready for the big stage.
